Italian al fresco

Friday, May 19, 2006
Although it's right next to Le Jardin Bistro and has a similar size garden, they do so much more with the space here, creating a rustic atmosphere for diners. The garden itself is canopied so you can eat here rain or shine, as temperatures permit. I think this aspect is why they don't try as hard with the food - the garden sells itself. While many people rave about the food and admonish the service, I have experienced vice versa. That service has been quite good, but the food has never been "rave-worthy", just your run-of-the-mill Italian. The specials weren't that special and the pasta, in their sauces, was nothing to sneeze at. However, if you're with good company in this beautifully appointed space, you can forgive and forget the food.
