Terrific, authentic gelato in Murray Hill

How I happened upon Il Gelatone, I can't remember, but now I know I can never forget this place. Their gelato is among the best in the city, fight as people might about the merits of Ciao Bella or their local spots. The Gianduia (hazelnut) flavor is my pick, while their chocolate and coffee flavors are also superb. If gelato is a bit too rich for you, they also have wonderfully refreshing sorbets, made with real fruit. A dream combo is that hazelnut flavor with the raspberry sorbet, sending me into squeals of delight. And I'm not a squealer.
It doesn't end there. If you wish for a less traditional brunch, this is the place for the Belgian-style waffles in the morning, with a cup of coffee in this small, cheerful spot. After having this caffeine, carb, and sugar jet-fueled combo, there's no question you'll be ready to get on with your day!
