Ricci's - A Gem 5/9/2006

This is a small, family-owned business, they are a restaurant/deli/pizza take-out place. The ambience... well, it's nice inside, but it's really pretty minimal for atmosphere, but that's okay, because you don't go to Ricci's for the atmosphere, you go for great food at a great price. They have a chicken dish made with lemons which is marvelous - the sauce is light and fresh, the chicken cooked perfectly. Dinners are served with a salad or soup (their minestrone is great, by the way) and garlic bread, you also get a small dessert. You can also get it a la carte, but why? The pizza is quite good, too - hand-tossed crust, delicious sauce, real mozarella cheese, quality pepperoni, etc. You can't do better at these prices - for the same money, you could go to a big chain like Pizza Hut, but in my opinion, for choice, selection, and quality, Ricci's is where the smart money goes. And you can buy these quality ingredients right there in their deli case. All items are available to go, and they are open for lunch as well as dinner. The one downside is their parking - the location, just south of the 91 freeway, is just around the corner from a... gentlemen's club. The parking lot for Ricci's is small, poorly marked from Bellflower Blvd. (I always miss it and have to enter on Artesia and travel a narrow alley past the club into the lot), and there aren't a lot of spaces. Getting out is not easy either. But you know what? The food is great, the service is friendly and personable, and the price is right. Deal with the parking, it's not that big a deal. more
