Hula Hut has great food, love the fish tacos, and it's a nice atmosphere out on the doc. With a full bar, weekend evenings it's a mob scene of young, white, wealthy college age people. The crowd is not my scene at all, I stick to a late Saturday lunch when I go.

Mother's is one of Austin's oldest vegetarian restaurants. The menu is heavy on the dairy, i.e. not particularly healthy if you're not careful about your choice, but there are vegan choices as well, and the food is quite tasty providing the service is good the day you go. The staff at Mother's is always pleasant, don't get me wrong, they're just often a bit... lackadaisical. Food may arrive late and lukewarm because the waiter was chatting with the hostess for a half hour, for example. The vegetarian lasagna is incredibly tasty. When it's hot...

I haven't gone back to "Baby A's" on the IH-35 access road in quite awhile because the food is only so-so, and with a large group of gay men, the wait staff was downright hostile. If they had any sense, as waiters they'd know that groups of gay men are the best tippers.
