La Taqueria

Sunday, April 30, 2006
A place like this presents one of the most vexing problems for the discerning diner. I know this is a favorite Taqueria of many. I even had a good taco here on my first visit, which really got my hopes up about the place right around the time Cancun was starting to suck and I was venturing out into uncharted territory. Anyways, next time I got a burrito that was so bad, on principle I can never eat there again. Who knows what cosmic factors might have contributed to this outright catastrophe? Heck, every burrito can't be perfect, right? But really, no restaurant has the right to take money and serve something so tasteless, a sick sad blob of smooshy unedibleness. They're famous for not putting rice in their burritos, and I can understand the appeal of this since a lot of places load up on it to great excess. But, the structural integrity of the thing didn't hold up. It liquefied on the first bite.
