Great Store but Make Sure You Stop at the Stop Signs 5/22/2006

The one problem I have in general about this Whole Foods has nothing to do with the store itself, but from the Deerfield police. The Whole Foods in Deerfield sits in the back area of a kind of strip-mall Deerfield-style. Namely, hoity-toity and stuck-up like most of the folks I have run across from around there. However, I digress. I once drove through here, looking to get to the grocery store and apparently missed a stop sign that was in the middle of the parking lot. Before I knew it, there was a cop car behind me as I parked and a surly jerk of an old crank cop peppering me with questions and acting as if I had kindapped the Lindbergh baby. "Why did you go through the stop sign?" He asked. "Which one?" I asked as he pointed. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't even see it. Or, if I did, I didn't realize that I hadn't stopped." "I just don't understand why you would go through a stop sign like that," he said. "Well, I apologize," I said, "I'm sorry. It was a mistake." "But why would you go through a stop sign like that?" He asked as if expecting to catch me in a lie so he could slap handcuffs on me and haul me to jail. When he found out my address was in Chicago he acted as though I was obviously out here in peaceful little Ol' Deerfield to stage a bank heist. Anyway, just be careful when you drive to his Whole Foods. Make sure you stop at all of the stop signs or men well past retirement age on a power trip may make your entire shopping experience a bad one. The store is huge and well stocked. I love the fresh sushi section. Whenever another Whole Foods I often go to is out of something, this is the one I make a trip to and they will usually have it in stock. Great place to shop, just watch out for the cops. more
