I've eat challah all over the world, for the past 28 years. And this place takes the cake. (Don't tell my mom!) While homemade challah is usually pretty good, this place makes the chewiest, softest, sweetest bread...and I could eat a whole loaf myself. But I don't. I share. Because everyone should know this sort of goodness before they die.

I didn't venture into the collectibles part, but the food at the cafe was REALLY good. Lake City is the new Greenwood. Which is the new Ballard. Which was the new Fremont.

I did private lessons for over a year and I LOVED it. I miss it (it was $50 a lesson so a bit pricey). The trainers were really great: supportive, challenging, friendly. I really enjoyed the workout (sometimes I even broke a sweat) and it helped me train for a triathlon. I preferred the pilates workout to swimming, biking, and running, but they don't have a pilates competition. :)
I recommend private classes wherever you go, but this is a low frills place (nice, but not trendy) and the people are great. For less money per lesson, you can take semi-private classes...but I liked having someone pay attention to the way I was working with my body, so I recommend private lessons first.

I have a bland palate (oatmeal is about as spicy as I can take it) so the suggestion to go to Enat was far from enticing. But I ventured away from my British/Scottish ways and LOVED it. I got a bunch of things that weren't too spicy but were really flavorful. I am excited to go back.
It was also really cheap for the amount of food.

Others can attest to the menu better than I, but as a vegetarian, this is not exactly the BEST place for dinner. That said, I had some really interesting spicy bean cake things...and I tried the mac and cheese, which was good too. I'd go again, but probably to take people who were visiting Seattle so I could prove we have other restaurants that don't serve northwest style food.

When I was a kid, I thought drinking chocolate was GROSS...I had to cut it with milk. But now that I know chocolate is sent from the gods, I must have it! But it's hard to find in a lot of places. The Spanish Table has it in packets and it's pretty authentic. They also have the largest paella pan I have ever seen. They have unique wedding presents, if you want something special without paying for international shipping.

Pike Place Market has a few lures for me: Le Panier is one of them. Similar to other cosmopolitan stores, this bakery makes me feel like I'm in France. Except I can order things other than croissants and no one laughs. It's busy on the weekends, but during the weekdays a little less so.

Seriously. It's lucky that this store is next to Urban Outfitters because the prices are similar so no one knows that it's overpriced. I admit that I am attracted to clothing displayed in the window and their catalog is intriguing, but I would be ashamed if I told my future kids that they couldn't go to college cause mommy wanted to look pretty for a couple of days.
