I started going here because an art teacher recommended it and they have a teacher and student discount. I kept going because I get inspired when I walk the aisles. They have lots of things for the craftier types or the school-age kids, but then the more serious stuff for the serious artists as well. Canvas stretchers, canvas, different color, papers, paints, it's all here.

my family's home movies. I was really disappointed. I mean, the one where I have a mullet or the one where I am cross-dressing as a five year old are amazing movies but no, Scarecrow said that they haven't found out how to get them yet. But they will. I'm sure of it.
Until then I go there to get the 'easier to find' movies about cats who like to protest big business on Tuesdays and the documentaries about mothers against drunk boating. I still ask about the home movies though. The mullet one is to die for!

The drinks here are great from the coffee to the chai and then the bakery items are huge and scrumptious. That's right, I said scrumptious.
If you're doing a java crawl, make sure to stop in here on your way down Greenwood. There are other locations but I like this one the best.

I know, for people who want a bargain, there's no need to *feel* good while grocery shopping...but I swear it makes the food taste better when the people behind the counter act like chefs instead of grunt workers. I try not to be snobby or pretentious because I really appreciate the way the food is prepared, laid out, and displayed. While this isn't my local grocer, I come here often and it's nice to be able to get a decent meal here and it's still cheaper than eating at a restaurant. Plus I like to look through their kitchen gadget area...

What I love about this store is their window displays. They change pretty often and are quite good. It usually does get me to stop and look at all the books.
Inside they have quite a selection and can order what they don't have. I like to stop in and browse and sometimes I even buy a book (gotta watch my book consumption!). The staff is always friendly. It's nice to go into a small independent bookseller and not be bombarded but instead, delightfully enticed.

It's the closest AAA towing to me so I've used them quite a bit but each service person has been friendly, helpful, light-spirited, and has taken the pain of having car trouble away (at least til my mechanic gives me the bill). I don't have AAA anymore, but I prefer to use Gus Cooper anyway.

The staff have been great (attentive, friendly) and the food is good too. I go there when I want something light and relatively inexpensive.

Deep in the Pike Place Market there's an herbal apothecary. It's kind of nice that's it's hidden away (less crowds). They offer tarot card reading sometimes which can impress your out of town...

But generally it's got the typical new agey, alternative health, incense supplies. Lots of dried herbs and teas.

I just went here last night and although I would've given it a great review before, I'm even more certain that this place rocks.

It's not only a great place to eat, but it's also a kayak club...so it rents kayaks!
Back to the food. Delicious. I had a yam taco (I usually get the mangodilla) which was so good. They have vegetarian options (and can make some things vegan upon request) too. Yummy drinks, both alcoholic and non. It's a loud place, so it's not for the subdued. It has a youthful feel to it and very vibrant colors. Sometimes there's live music as well.
