I love going to the drive up teller at Newtown Savings Bank on Main Street in Newtown. The people who work there are almost always smiling. The service is fast and friendly and very convenient to running my other errands in town. With the new building renovations, the ATM is now on the opposite side of the building from the drive through tellers.

This Big Y Supermarket is in the Queen Street Shopping plaza - very convenient when getting off of Route 84 and heading anywhere in Newtown. I find the prices are not as good as Stop & Shop and they don't have a very large selection of natural and organic foods. The deli makes great meatballs, but often gets overwhelmed with shoppers and the personnel sometimes get crabby.

I have always gotten very friendly service here. My daughter loves to stop in for the lolly-pops. This shop is in the Big Y shopping center, so there is plenty of easy access parking and I can get my banking, shopping and dry-cleaning handled all in one trip without having to drive all over town.

The stylists at Fun Kuts are GREAT with kids. When my son was younger he absolutely freaked out about getting a haircut. His first haircut at Fun Kuts was so fast and easy that we've never taken him any place else.
The atmosphere is bright and cheery. The kids have lots of toys to play with while they wait for their turn - Fun Kut's doesn't take appointments, you put your name on the list as soon as you walk in and they will let you know how long the wait is expected to be. During the haircut, kids can watch cartoons or play with a basket full of tiny toys.
You can park along Church Hill Road or in the lot behind Fun Kuts. If that lot is full, just drive around the corner onto Glen Road past Mocha for a large parking lot that's just a short walk away.

They have Thomas the Tank Engine toys and accessories. They even have some of the old-fashioned toys that I played with as a child...do you remember that pull-toy rotary phone that had eyes that wiggle when you roll it?
You can park along Church Hill Road or go behind the Toy Tree for more parking - if that's full, go to the large lot around the corner past Mocha coffee shop, it's a short pleasant walk through Sandy Hook Center to get over to the Toy Tree.

The clothes are beautifully maintained and I've gotten a few perfect evening gowns here at incredible discounts. One caveat: be happy with what you purchase or let them know right away, returns at a consignment shop are not like returns at a regular retail store. When things are on sale the prices are even more fantastic!

We had a pile of watches at home that were gathering dust waiting for replacement batteries. I pass the Clock Shop on South Main Street often during the week and decided to call them about the watch batteries. YES! They do replacements. The shop is in back the building with ample parking. The variety of clocks in the shop is awe inspiring: grandfather clocks, ships clocks, alarm clocks (even one that crows like a rooster!), and all kinds of wall clocks, desk clocks and cuck-oo clocks.
