One of the many ways they do this is by participating in Progress Energy's Energy Efficient Construction programs. They build new homes and work on older homes. Whenever we're at the Eagle Ridge Mall, we make Rolling Pin Kitchen Emporium one of our stops. One of my best friends is a gourmet cook and this is her favorite store of stores. There is always some new little gadget, magnet or other item to be found here. Even on that rare occasion when we don't buy something, we always enjoy looking!

I have my Crown Vic cleaned at Lakeshore Car Wash at least three times each month. The guys and gals there do a terrific job and this has helped maintain the value of my car, which still looks brand new. Because the store was built with a huge picture window set into one side of the building, you can watch from inside the clean, comfortable air conditioned store as your car passes through the washing machinery. While waiting for your car to get finished, you can even enjoy a cup of coffee while you're waiting.

I've bought furniture items several times at Highlands Woodcraft Inc. I like their furniture because it is made of solid wood, not pressed wood or cardboard. I've also had several items refinished by Highlands Woodcraft, including a jewelry box my father made me. My father has been dead since 1960, so you know I trust Highlands Woodcraft in order for me to allow them to work on this cherished piece.

A sub-paper of the Tampa Tribune, I think Highlands Today provides unbiased coverage daily. It can be ordered on its own or along with the entire Tampa Tribune newspaper.

We have enjoyed several productions at Highlands Little Theatre, including "The Allergist's Wife" in January. We've also seen "Hound of the Baskervilles" and "The King and I," which was the first play I ever saw way back when I was in high school (mmph years ago).
We have thoroughly enjoyed each and every professional-quality production we've seen and would highly recommend this theatre company to anyone interested in having a great time.

While the jewels and jewelry are of the finest quality at Highlands Jewelers, Charles Stuart and his customer service personnel have also struck me as quite snobbish. I never feel welcome or wanted when I'm in this store. I spoke with Mr. Stuart about appraising the jewelry in my collection. I felt his price quote was too high and it would have taken 2 1/2 months before he could get to my appraisal. That wasn't acceptable to me.

I actively campaigned for Susan Benton and firmly believe that with her in command Highlands County has become a safer, better place to live. Her experience, commitment and leadership are serving us all well. Although I felt her predecessor, Howard Godwin, was a good sheriff, I also felt he was deeply entrenched in the good ole boy network. I think he played favorites among the people who worked for him and I believe Susan is fair to all.

When I bought my new-to-me home five years ago, I got a bargain because it was in horrendous condition. One of the things I had to have done was to replace all the flooring. Griffin's Carpet Mart laid a wonderful linoleum tile throughout most of the house, installed carpeting in the guest bedroom and put outdoor tile on the walk to the front door and on the back patio. Their installers were highly professional and did excellent work. I could not be happier.
