My favorite place for noodles in Urbana-Champaign is Noodles and Company. Just recently opened on campus but it is very good food. You won’t find food like it anywhere near Champaign, because quite honestly, there are no restaurants like it. It is reasonably priced and offers a great twist to many favorites such as mac and cheese. Be prepared for long lines however, since it is located in the heart of campus town.

Murphy’s Pub is a great place to eat and drink with your friends. Wednesday night is logo night where you can get a glass logo with a beer for about $4-$5. Refills are usually $2. Their Irish Nachos are huge waffle fries with cheese, bacon, tomatoes, and lots and lots of jalapeno peppers. Awesome place to go with friends to hang out and enjoy yourself.

My favorite place for sandwiches in Urbana-Champaign is Jimmy John’s. They truly do make subs so fast that you’ll freak and it is very fresh tasting and good. However, beware, do not go at night when rampant drunk college kids will often haggle you inside their restaurant. My favorite selection is their Turkey Tom sandwich, loaded with Turkey and bacon and tons of veggies!

Zorbas is one of the few places in Urbana-Champaign that you can get gyros. They have both the traditional gyros but also offer chicken gyros as well. They also have a wide variety of appetizers, my favorite being their fried mushrooms. It is however a little expensive, so go on a Tuesday when most things are half off! Don’t forget to try their chicken fajitas!

Golden Wok is the best Thai/Chinese food in central Illinois. Their Pad Thai is especially infamous with many of the students on the college campus. It is filled with loads of bean sprouts and very delicately seasoned. It comes with a lime so you can spice up your meal a little bit. The only downside is that there is often a long line so be sure to order ahead if you plan on getting it!

Biaggi’s Restaurant in Champaign is probably the best Italian food in central Illinois. It is pretty expensive but you are paying for the environment they provide. It is hard to find a nice restaurant in such a rural area such as Champaign, but Biaggi’s provides service, excellence, and great tasting food. The wine selection they have is superb so don’t forget to have some with your meal. This restaurant is great for a first date impression!

Viccino’s Pizza is quite simply one of the best pizzas in Chicago. They offer single slices during lunch time that you can load with toppings. By “load” I mean, they will pile up toppings on top of the pizza 2-3 inches high! It is also pretty cheap, about $3 a slice and very filling. Great if you have any kids or other family members who want to eat cheap but eat great!

Buffalo Joe’s is a place you must go to if you live anywhere near Chicago. Simply, they are the best buffalo wings that you can find. You can get them in several flavors including my favorite suicide, which comes with tons of wings and lots of jalapeno peppers on top. It is fairly expensive but people will come back and keep eating it since they are so delicious.
