Mac & Maggie's has THE best ribs in Roanoke. It is a casual restaurant that also has a bar (which always has a sports channel on). They are open for lunch and dinner. I usually order their babyback ribs, but have also had their bbq chicken entree. If you order salad, request the poppyseed dressing (it's not on the menu, but they do have it always in stock in the back) --- that is the best dressing! Tasty food. THE best ribs!! (did I already say that??) Prices are a tad higher than Applebee's. Service has always been excellent. One of my favorite places to dine in Roanoke.

Calabria's offers a most excellent variety of tasty pizza. For some reason I love their pepporoni pizza better than anywhere else I have ever eaten pizza. I'd have to say they offer the best pizza in Cranford. The pizza is yummy! Variety of toppings is par for this type restaurant. Prices are reasonable. Staff has always been friendly and has always provided great service, even on their busiest of nights.

Mayberrys is where I go when I am in the mood for ice cream. They do offer sandwiches, but I have never found them too appetizing. Their ice cream is very yummy and they offer a good amount of flavors. My recommendation would be to eat lunch/dinner at home and then head to Mayberry's for some yummy ice cream. Prices are very reasonable. Service is good -- but frequently they are busy.

McKays offers an amazing selection of used books at great low prices. Everything from fiction to cooking to home improvement to teacher resource to children's. They also buy/sell CDs, VHS, and DVDs. If you a college student, you should check at McKay's before paying full price for any college text -- McKays sells used college textbooks. You can sell your used paperbacks (maybe some hardbacks) here - opt for store credit as you get more money for your books that way. They tend to give 35% cash for your books, but 50% store credit. Staff is friendly and always helpful. Service is usually quick. Books are well organized by genre. One of my favorite places to spend a Sunday afternoon.

My favorite thing to order at Qdoba is their chicken burrito. The thing is huge!!! It definitely fills me up. Qdoba is a great restaurant for my family: my wife is a very picky eater of Mexican food. At Qdoba she can watch how they make her quesadillas and tell them what to put (or not put) on her quesadilla. The kids menu is not big, but it is priced reasonably. The food is very tasty. Service has always been quick and friendly.

Courtney's is a quaint mom & pop owned restaurant. They are known for their spectacular breakfast and brunch menu items. My favorite item is their French toast -- I think it is even better than what my mom made me as a child. Very clean restaurant. Staff is always friendly. Service with a smile. Prices are more than reasonable -- down right cheap! Definitely worthy of 5 stars -- now stop reading this and go there and order some french toast!

Cook Out offers the best milkshakes in the Raleigh-Cary area! They are super thick! For being a small take-out only joint, you'd expect to only have 2-3 milkshake flavors to choose from, right? WRONG! They offer over 20 flavors of milkshakes. Every flavor (and I have tried many) I have tried has been a hit with me. The only sad thing about their flavor choices: they took away blackberry, which was my all time favorite. Very sad. Anyway, that does not keep me away. They offer typical fast food fare with a bit of a Southern and homemade grill twist: hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, hush puppies, onion rings, chili dogs,etc. All burgers are made to order and grilled NOT fried. You can smell the grill burning a mile away on a good day. Their burgers are very tasty and have no greasy taste to them. They taste like you cooked them on your own grill. They offer 4 different size burgers -- so choose one to fit your appetite but save room for a milkshake. Prices are very reasonable! Service is quick and friendly.

This Ben & Jerry's ice cream parlor offers a variety of those flavors we come to love and know: Cherry Garcia, Chunky Monkey, Phish Food, Fossil Fuel. They will even give you a free sample if you can't decide which flavor to order. They quality of ice cream is fantastic. They don't offer many tables inside, but there are benches outside to sit on. Prices are high -- but that is to be expected whether you are buying Ben & Jerry ice cream here or at the grocery store. Staff always greets everyone with a smile and a hello. Service is good. Just wish the prices were lower so I could eat this more than once every few months.

Pizza topped with chicken or ham or pineapple or soy sauce or BBQ sauce or you name it! My favorite is the BBQ Chicken Pizza -- and always on whole wheat crust. Their whole wheat crust is definitely more flavorful than their standard plain crust. It definitely adds to the unique flavor of their Original BBQ Chicken Pizza: chicken, gouda cheese, red onions all on a wheat crust with BBQ sauce instead of your typical marinara. Prices are on the expensive side; but definitely worth it for this cuisine. The staff has always been friendly and courteous. Service has always been excellent. No complaints at all from me.

I love this ice cream -- excuse me, technically what they serve is frozen custard -- - stand! They offer a variety of flavors in both hard and soft custard. Many many toppings to choose from. The flavors are sinfully wonderful. When I lived in Raleigh, I frequented Goodberry's at least once a week. If I could've convinced myself to have Goodberry's for dinner, I would have! Prices are reasonable. Service is quick and staff is friendly. Expect to wait in line as they are always busy but their custard is definitely worth the wait.
