This place has a much different feel compared to a few of the other bookstores in the area. The books are in shelves that go almost out of reach for most. Their selection is quite good, though the staff in my experience hasn't been all that great. The prices are a bit more than the usual used-book-store price, but they aren't high enough to work against the place. The atmosphere is one thing I love about the place, though: there's a true feeling of being surrounded by books, not present in most of the other places in the area.

First drawn in by their $5 lunch specials, the reason I go back is because I think they have some of the better Thai food in Berkeley. The service is always great, part of the reason that this restaurant is such a favorite of mine. They do offer take-out as well dining-in, and while the inside doesn't seat a great number, it's usually enough for the people who come.

One of the bookstores in Berkeley that focuses mainly on new books and independent books. There are a few "clearance" items available, though the selection is not very wide. The prices for the new books are standard bookstore fare (nothing too cheap) as are the books offered themselves (there are quite a few books I've been unable to find there). One of the main draws for me for Cody's is the occasional "Everything for Twenty-five Cents" setup they will have on the curb outside their store. There's usually something there worth the quarter (and much more) that one can find.

As a boy, there isn't all that much I require in a haircut-place (barbershop, salon, etc.) besides a cheap haircut. Looking at places around Berkeley, the majority of places offering haircuts has them at for what I considered a bit pricey for just a haircut. Perfect Hair & Nails, though, offers regular men's haircuts for $11. The staff is friendly, occasionally striking a conversation while cutting. I've been satisfied with their service, and they do offer various forms of nailcare (though I can't say anything about those).

Between the Unit Three dorms and campus (in fact, just across the street from the dorms), Yogurt park sits and offers its own set of frozen treats. The prices are good for the amount of yogurt given, and there is usually a decent variety of flavors. It's fairly well known, which leads to longer lines during times when people crave a frozen snack. It's open late (well, later than quite a few other places around Berkeley) and while the lines can be long, as stated, they're rarely ever unreasonable.

This is a wonderful park, large in area with a lake (which does have ducks), a creek, and a large amount of playground equipment. There are quite a few wide open spaces and the paths are hilly, all of which make the park an enjoyable place to spend time. It's a nice retreat, even though it's so close to one of the busier parts of Lincoln Ave, roughly down the street from The Village (Mall of Orange).

Pepe's is a fast-food Mexican restaurant, offering both an inside eating area and a drive-thru. The food is a bit more than usual for the price, and the wait is rarely ever too long. The food is decent for the comparable places nearby and it is definitely a place worth checking out for quick, decent food.

There isn't as much a difference between these larger bookstores as there could be. This Barnes & Noble, though, has a very helpful staff who are knowledgeable about the store and various books: old, new, and coming. It is located near a few places to eat, and has its own food-service area inside the store. It's easy to navigate and there is a good chance that if what one is looking for is popular, it will be found.

Nearby "The Village" (Formerly known as the Mall of Orange) Polly's is a great place to get a decent meal with loved ones. It is very much a family restaurant with a pleasant ambience. They are known for their pies, which I cannot vouch for, but I do know that the meal-food they serve is quite good, as was the service when I went.

I took lessons at Patrick's Music School for eight years, and enjoyed it more than I've enjoyed most anything else I've committed eight years to. They offer instruction in various instruments (piano, guitar, vocal, violin, and a few others, I believe) by teachers who have passion for music and want to give that passion to the kids they teach. The teachers I came into contact with (though I took lessons with only one) were all very personable and pleasant people. It was a great community to learn in, and I definitely remember my times there with fondness.
