The "hazards" referring to the long lines, expensive tickets and food, and things of that nature. While Knott's doesn't quite have the same children's-appeal Disneyland has, it definitely has its own brand of entertainment to offer instead. Knotts has plenty of enjoyable rides, roller-coaster and non-roller-coaster and offers much more culture than Disneyland most likely ever will. I prefer Knott's because of these reasons, but mainly because I feel fine just strolling around the park, not something that is quite as easy to do at Disneyland.
On its own, Knott's has plenty to offer, and it offers what it has amazingly well, attracting patrons of all ages. It has the feel of an amusement park, rather than an escape.

The selection of new movies is decent, though nothing to be too excited about. The employees are reasonably helpful, if their help is sought. If you're looking for older movies that aren't considered major classics, there isn't too good a chance they'll be found here, but what they do have is decent enough that one can find an enjoyable movie to watch. One concern, though (which may lie more with the movie-producing industry rather than Blockbuster), why is there a horror movie called "Turdzilla"? The cover looked strange, rather than terrifying, and I think the entire story is given away in the title. But, I'll never know for sure until I rent it myself.

Taco Pronto is a small Mexican-eatery at the corner of Orangethorpe and Lemon. They offer the usual selection of food, though some of their combinations are worth at least one taste. One in particular, that I quite liked, was the California burrito (at least, I think that's what it was called) which offered what is essentially a hamburger and fries wrapped in a tortilla. The service here is decent, and the food is prepared fairly quickly. I haven't tried too much at this place, but I've definitely been satisfied with what I've had, making return visits more than possible.

In-N-Out offers classic burgers, fries, and shakes, with few if any frills. However, that should not be taken as a depreciating aspect; In-N-Out does what it does right. The burgers are tasty, the fries (if asked to be crispy, otherwise they can be soggy) are tasty, and the shakes are refreshing. The staff has always been friendly when I've been there, which makes the eating experience there all the better (especially considering that the wait can be ten minutes for a meal (and the drive-thru is only marginally better)). This In-N-Out in particular, though, has a great location. It is near quite a few stores and the AMC Fullerton 20 theatres. This does bring in quite a bit of the crowd making it fairly busy the majority of the time, but don't let that stop you. The food is moderately priced and more than moderately delicious.

In this age of variation, In-N-Out has stuck with its menu of burgers, fries, and shakes. This doesn't work against them, because they do their burgers, fries, and shakes well. The ingredients are fresh, the burgers are made as you wait (which can take quite some time, especially during the busier hours), and the employees are almost always incredibly friendly. Also, there actually is vegetarian fare: they just make a burger without the patty (essentially a grilled-cheese sandwich). This In-N-Out in particular tends to be quick in the drive-thru but dining in can take a bit longer.

Located in the Sather Lane, between the Unit 3 dorms and the UC Berkeley campus, Sumo burger offers a selection of burgers and milkshakes, among other items. The service is usually decent, and there are rarely, if ever, any lines (though the wait takes care of that (though the wait is not much longer than comparable places)). They offer standard hamburgers, but also variations on the classic, such as the salmon burger, which to me was surprisingly good (though the salmon was a bit difficult to taste). It's a decent place to get a meal, especially if one is in the mood to try something new without being too adventurous.

Walgreens has the general drug-store merchandise (medicine, personal care products, random toys and books, candy, etc.) but the fact that they have all this available makes it a good store in my opinion. The prices are reasonable for the majority of their merchandise, and there's usually something worth getting every time you go. They have cheap movies (mainly old series or relatively unknown movies), around holidays they have candy sales, and they do have a decent selection of drinks, if one just quickly wants to get something. The employees are nice and the service at the cashier is usually fairly speedy.

Nickel Nickel is a nickel arcade, housing many of the old games that have been displaced by the vast number of new games being released. There is an entrance fee (just under $4 when I went) in addition to the price of each game (which, true to the place's name, cost just nickels). The selection of games is great, with all kinds of games for all sorts of players. There are a few ticket-earning games and the usual novelty prizes for doing so.

The seats are comfortable and the screens are large enough that no one will complain about not being able to see. AMC does offer student discounts (unlike Regal) which, while still being a bit pricey, make seeing movies more reasonable. I haven't seen anything particularly good or bad about the staff there, but that doesn't work against the place. AMC provides a decent experience for seeing a movie, but not much else.

The place is kind of small, but the food is what people come for. Their burritos are tasty, and their plates are something to come back for. The prices are decent, comparable to the places in the nearby "Asian Ghetto" and surrounding. The service is quick, even if there are quite a few people waiting. Plus, with its location close to the university campus, it's a place one can stop by during the day without venturing too far between classes.
