I would describe the interior as plush...the people as sketchy. It's usually 21+, but they have nights when it's girls 19+ and guys 21+...Used to attract a 30-something crowd. They have a back room that often functions as a mini-club if there are college parties there. Cover's normal enough. If it's too crowded, there are plenty of other clubs in the area to hit up.

They play mostly hip hop from what I remember. There's a cover though. They also occassionally hold college parties here. Part of the Avaland complex.

Nice interior, not very big though. Located in the Financial District (near Quincy Market). Haven't been in a while, but the club part was downstairs, and the dance floor was rather small. Used to hold a lot of college-age parties here with different promoters. Pretty strict about underage drinking.

This club doesn't feel that big when you're inside, but it has the advantage of being connected to like 4 other clubs (Modern, Axis, and Embassy). Of all of the clubs, I tend to find Avalon plays a lot of techno/dance type music. They also hold a lot of major concerts there. They also often have big name djs come to spin (they usually charge extra for those nights)...I think I saw Tiesto there once. Anyway, depending on what night you go, the crowd varies, but it's usually a good crowd Fridays/Saturdays.

It's one of the bigger clubs in Boston, and it always attracts a lot of people. The ages of the people who go here vary greatly though. Probably one of the more diverse crowds than other clubs in the area. The cover's average. They have events here occassionally, for a while they had the Chippendales regularly (don't know if this still holds true).

They get a good crowd, and the club emits a "too cool for you" vibe no matter who you are. Right next to Downtown Crossing and Chinatown, they have a good location, and several floors, but it still gets crowded. One of the floors is dedicated to dancing. There's also pool tables on 2 of the other floors. They serve food too, but if you're going for dinner, go early so you don't get swamped by the people there to drink and be seen. The prices are high, but comparable to other bars of this type.

Gets pretty crowded since it's right next to Harvard. The service is fast though since they need your seats. Definitely not a place to linger over the food. Kind of a "greasy spoon" type of restaurant. The menu's pretty extensive. They even have veggie burgers =) The food's filling, and it's reasonably priced. Can get quite loud though.

This restaurant doesn't exist at this location anymore. The nearest one to Newbury is the Chinatown location. There's also one at the Atrium mall, and another one in the Garage at Harvard Square....

For Vietnamese food, this chain's pretty good. I'd recommend the locations outside of Chinatown though, not that the Chinatown one's no good, it's just not as clean as the others.

I was really surprised when I found this place, since it's hidden away downstairs from where the Hold Everything used to be (next door to So Good Jewelry). They have a pretty good selection of assorted Japanese items (they even carry a bit of fresh produce and baked goods). The prices are OK. If you're looking for Japanese ingredients, there's a pretty good chance they'll have something for you. My guess is that they cater mainly to the Berklee students. The store also has a blog that's in Japanese.
