If you're not close to Chinatown and you're not around Porter Square but you absolutely must get a noodle fix, then this is your best bet. It's a tiny place located between Newbury and Boylston that's usually packed. The noodles are decent and come in large bowls with soup. While not expensive, as a noodle connoisseur, you may find yourself hankering for cheaper options elsewhere. However, the food gets the job done.

When you think of a classic French restaurant, this is the sort of establishment that comes to mind. Each meal easily costs $100/person, and that's not counting drinks! Add one bottle of decent wine, and you could easily be shelling out $125+/person. That would probably explain why everyone there seems to be on a date celebrating something major like their tenth wedding anniversary.
The food is really good but not incredible. The service, however, is impeccable. They're also suprisingly vegetarian friendly and will make any dish on the menu to order regardless of the meat content.
Most surprisingly, they were also tolerant and even welcoming towards my toddler nephew. I can't necessarily say the same about the snooty clientele, though.

There are so many tapas on the menu that it's difficult to limit yourself, but you probably will when you notice the prices. Each tapa is the same price as an entree at other restaurants. However, they are so incredibly good that you'll just want to keep on shelling out dough. Also, the pitchers of sangria are hardly pitchers at all. It's more like three wine glasses full. That's not much! However, it costs the same as a full pitcher elsewhere.
Go here to impress or for incredible taste. Don't go here for value.

Felt is usually completely packed and for good reason. On the first floor, you can eat dinner, get drinks at the bar, or mingle with other people. On the second floor, you'll find pool tables and lounges. As for the third floor, I've never actually been up there, but it's often used for private parties. Otherwise, it's a dance floor.

A trip to Boston is surely incomplete without a trip to one of the many Legal Sea Foods. This location happens to be in the Pru, but that's not what makes it completely packed with an hour-long wait. Instead, it's the quality seafood that's extremely fresh and tasty. You simply can't go wrong with any of the dishes. Of course, it's not exactly cheap eats, but it's not overwhelmingly expensive. It's definitely worth the wait, and if you go to the one in the Pru, then you can at least shop in the meantime.

In all honesty, I've never been a fan of Ethiopian food. There's something about it that's always just turned me off. Plus, I always feel guilty that I'm probably eatin 100x better than the average Ethiopian.
However, this place is amazing. If possible, go with many friends, so you can share and try a number of dishes. They're all dumped onto large sheets of sponge bread, which you of course eat by hand.
And if you drink, don't forget to try the actual Ethiopian beer they have on hand.

This is the type of place that you expect to be only in NYC rather than in Boston. Boston's known for its historic taverns around Faneuil Hall, whereas NYC's known for its swanky, ultrachic, modern clubs. However, this place breaks the trend. (Granted, it's technically in Cambridge.)
Anyway, this lounge is a good place to sit and relax with your friends while actual waitresses serve drinks. It's lively and a good place to hang.

This is my absolute favorite Thai restaurant in the area. Once you get over the rather interesting decor, which includes such oddities as a laser light show, you find that the menu is anything but humble. The food is served ridiculously quickly, and the noodles are always cooked to perfection.
The best part about this place is it seems to be a relatively undiscovered gem. I've never had to wait for a table here, even on Friday nights at peak hours.

Supposedly, Paul Revere and the Sons of Liberty used to hang out at this tavern in downtown Boston that calls itself the "Headquarters of the American Revolution". Whether that's just hype or the truth is up to historians. What we do know in the present is that there's a great selection of beers in a casual atmosphere. There's live music half the week, and in general, it's just a nice place to hang out.

The menu's extremely extensive and offers more than just sushi, too. In fact, I normally order the shrimp and vegetable tempura, which is a gigantic pile of fried food that could easily be two meals.
Also, the restaurant is open late until 2AM, allowing you to eat great even late.
