Jillian's never disappoints with their huge number of pool tables, bowling alleys, and big screen TVs. There's something for everyone at this establishment famous for cute waitresses in skimpy black outfits. On weekends, the place is completely packed, and you may find it difficult to snag a bowling alley or pool table. However, if you go on a weekday, you'll find that the place is nearly deserted.

This is a lively bar that often has a long line outside. I personally prefer to go on quieter weekday nights when you can get great deals on appetizers. In particular, they have 10 cent wings that are served until 11 PM. You can only get them at the bar, though. They also have a decent beer selection and is a must stop for any bar crawl in the area.

I don't head out the movies much, but I always enjoy coming to Kendall Square. When you're sick of watching mainstream movies dominated by the large Loews theaters in town, then you need to come here and get your Indie fix. They always have a good selection of movies. The only downside is that the theater's a bit out of the way for most people, and movie tickets as always are expensive. However, it makes for a good night out.

This place is really large compared to other nearby liquor stores, and you're bound to find what you're looking for here. Make sure you check out their wine cellar, which has a great variety. The prices aren't all that bad either, and the people are helpful. Don't be afraid to ask for help.

Costello's is a fairly large package store that has a good selection of pretty much any booze you might want be it beer or liquor. The only downside is that it seems a bit pricey, though I can never tell when looking at such an inelastic good. (OK, inside economist joke here.) I was especially happy to find that they stock the 16 oz. swingtop Grolsch bottle, which is becoming increasingly difficult to find.

The best part about this restaurant is the bar where they serve up the absolute best mojito in town. I never knew I could like a mojito before I came here. Usually, they're too strong and minty, but they've managed to find the perfect balance here. Also try out their caipirinhas, which are fantastic.

This place sets itself apart in all the unique things that just aren't normal for restaurants. For example, you order by checking things off on a menu that you then hand to your waiter. They encourage you to deface the tables, and there's a roll of paper towels to clean up after the inevitable mess. Have I mentioned that the food is also pretty good? Definitely go here for the margaritas, too. After all it's part of the name.

This is a tiny hole in the wall that often goes unnoticed by casual lookers. It almost disappears in between its neighbors on Newbury Street and can hardly be considered a swanky establishment like other restaurants on that street. However, you'll be happy to know that it's possibly the best value around. Pieces of sushi are around $1 apiece and is surprisingly good. They're pretty fast, and you won't pay through the nose.
The one major downside is that the place is tiny. Waiting for a seat is extremely common, and you won't be seated at your own table. However, if you're really pressed for time, then you can just order takeout.

If you're looking for the absolute best Indian food in Boston, then you need look no more. This is it! The food can be a bit on the pricey side for an Indian restaurant. However, it's well worth it. Especially surprising is the selection of beef dishes, so it's obvious that they've catered to Western tastes. However, the do so superbly.
Also, check out their weekend buffet. It's twice as expensive as other restaurants', but the quality is totally worth it.

While this place is probably more often thought of as a nighttime hangout, it's also an excellent restaurant that has some really good dishes. The first thing I always hit up is their tapas menu. I don't think it's ever changed, so there are some sure bets here. The next thing is the appetizer list. Try the spinach artichoke dip and fried calamari. Then, there's the salad. Yes, salad. Try the orange and avocado one. It'll hit the spot.
