The food here is incredible, especially when you take the prices into account. Forget the super-expensive French restaurant and come here instead. Entrees are all under $20, and they're all extremely tasty. There's also a great dessert menu with an open dessert kitchen for you to drool voyeuristically.
The only downside is the place is extremely crowded, and you may have to compete with Sox fans for things like parking. Make sure you have a reservation.

What's better than a burger from Mr. Bartley's Burger Cottage? Not much. It has the feel of dive diner and the authentic menu to boot. It's basically a huge list of creative burgers and assorted foods that are named after celebrities. The burgers have pithy comments and can be politically charged, so you really are what you order here. The most amazing thing to me is that a vegetarian can come away full with the good selection of vegetarian options.

I've never stayed at the hotel, so this isn't about the hotel part. Instead, it's about the bar downstairs, which really is its own establishment. At night, it becomes a very packed and lively bar filled with thirty-somethings spending money on expensive martinis. The drinks are deefinitely overpriced (a round of shots once cost me something like $50+), so you can easily tell who the general clientele is here. If you're younger (like me), then you might want to go elsewhere.

Cheap beer and a dance floor are the hallmarks of this club in the middle of the Financial District. It's impossible to find this place if you're unfamiliar with the area, but once you're inside, you'll find that it's very much alive. The only downside is it's a somewhat small club with a bar that doesn't fit all that many people. However, the atmosphere makes up for it.

The one thing caught me completely off-guard here was the dessert. The ice cream is nothing like normal western ice cream. Instead, it's more like a frozen block of funky spices that's chopped into pieces.

Since I'm a garlic fanatic, I'm always extremely happy when they bring out the bread with the accompanying dipping sauce which has a whole head of roasted garlic drenched in olive oil.

If you're looking for low prices and a huge selection, then this place is it. The produce is fresh, and there's a huge selection of, well, everything. The best section is their extensive ramen noodle collection. Forget the boring Top Ramen you get at Shaw's! When you come out, you'll almost certainly be lugging huge armloads of food.

This place is huge! It carries pretty much every Asian food imagineable along with most of the regular staples you'd find at the Shaw's next door. You could easily spend a day here puzzling over all the ingredients for your next meal, and the prices are fantastic.
This Super 88 location also has a food court filled with a large variety of Asian food. My favorite pick? The popcorn chicken and boba tea combo at Lollicup.

What is an utter disappointment, though, is the drinks. The margaritas taste extremely watered down and aren't worth the money. You're better served by ordering beer, which is actually fairly inexpensive for a restaurant.

What's the best bar and restaurant in the South End? It's probably Clerys.
It's good for dinner with tasty burgers and a room filled with TV screens with every major sporting event. It's also good for late night drinks and partying with a downstairs dance floor and bar that dishes out drinks quickly.
Unless you like waiting in line, though, try getting there a bit early.
