I'm a small town girl from Barre living in a big city and for once and for all, stop making the citizens of the Barre-Montpelier area drive to Burlington or Rutland for some decent shopping!
There are maybe 10 stores at this "mall" and none of them are worth the time of day. Well, most of them aren't worth the time of day, there are a few exceptions. Bring Old Navy or the Gap to the mall, it would be sure to attract a lot of business and bring some life back to surrounding towns. Stop making our citizens go to other towns to shop, they are taking away the business that we so desperately need! I would love to visit for the holidays and be able to go to the mall and grab a gift but don't expect that at this mall...it's not worth the time.

As a teenager, I used to work at this quaint establishment. I enjoyed my days as a Paramount employee and I enjoy catching a movie when I'm in town. They always have up-to-date movies and the prices are reasonable. Another huge plus is that the popcorn is always fresh and since I used to work there, I can attest to that fact!
Movies are never out of focus and if they are problems with the film reel, the employees will accommodate you in the best way that they know how. Another popular gift during the holiday time are the Paramount Theater movie passes, they always make a perfect stocking stuffer. Hardworking upper management and friendly service make this a Barre favorite.

Last August I was married at the Ocean Edge Resort, from the moment I stepped on their front lawn, I knew I had to get married there. I helped a friend look for a hotel on the cape a year before and we came across the website. And for a year before I was engaged, I dreamed of getting married there. Luckily my husband was on board with it!
We booked a night at the resort in the midst of our planning and they treated us so well, we knew we were in good hands! On my wedding day, I honestly couldn't have asked for anything better! The entire Ocean Edge staff was fantastic and Larry, the coordinator, was calm and helpful through the entire Ceremony and Reception.
During my stay at Ocean Edge over my wedding, I did run into one incident of bad customer service. When asking for a cab, the front desk representative was rude. I did feel like that since I was having my wedding there, I should have been treated with more respect. The place is gorgeous, if youโre in the Brewster area, itโs a stop that everyone has to see.

I was married in August 2005 and I purchased my Judd Waddell dress at Allegria Bridal in November 2004. I had been to two other dress stores and this store didn't even compare to the other stores I visited. I was so pleased with the level of customer service and the dresses; I couldn't imagine not buying from them! I picked out "the dress" immediately, it was the first one I tried on and after 15 dresses, it was the last one I tried on. My bridal consultant, Lisa was amazing. She didn't tell me what I wanted to hear, she told me the truth. If I didn't look good in a dress, she didn't try to sell me the dress. I loved everything about getting married, especially dress shopping.
If you're a bride and you don't want to feel pressured and want to have fun shopping for a dress, this is the place to go. However, it is not for all price ranges. They do have sample dresses that you can purchase for less money but be prepared to spend anywhere between $1,500 to $5,000 on your wedding dress. In the end, it's all worth it!

Ever since I moved to the Boston area, I cannot walk by a J.P. Licks without having a desire to stop and have a small cup of ice cream! At first it started out with the soft oreo cookie yogurt, I then switched to the new "Oatmeal Cookie" hard yogurt. I was having a bad day last summer and decided that I was going to splurge, chocolate chip real ice cream in a chocolate dipped wafer cone with sprinkles!
Ohmigod. Do I even have to say any more? It is the best ice cream that I've ever had and since that day last summer, I have to have the real ice cream. Although the yogurt is fantastic, the real stuff is to die for! You can go wrong on an order from J.P. Licks. I've been to many of the area stores and at each place I am greeted with fantastic service and I always leave with a smile on my face.

If you're a shopping fanatic like myself, this is one place that you must stop at if you're in the area. They have it all. From the latest designers to deals that are too good to pass up, to a wide selection of shoes, it's an easy one-stop-shop for the fashionistas of the world. If you look at their website on line, you may also find promotions for the current season. Anytime I am in the market for a new pair of jeans or a cute top -- Jasmine Sola is my first stop.
Although I've heard the customer service hasn't been up to par, each time I have been I've been treated with just the right amount of customer service, not too overbearing but are there if I ever need opinions, help, or advice.

The Somerville Theater, located in the heart of Davis Square is the place to go if you want to see a movie but don't want to pay $20 per person at a chain theater. It's cheap and the popcorn is fantastic. As a former employee of a movie theater, I can appreciate good popcorn and in the Somerville area, there are no other theaters that can compare in that respect. They also use real butter! Something unheard of these days!
The seating is a bit uncomfortable, however. I would rate this theater 5 stars if it wasn't for the seats. I frequent this theater a few times a month and I will continue to do so despite the seating, however I would also LOVE if they put a little TLC into the seats!

My husband and I found this little bistro on accident and it's turned out to be one of the most memorable places I've ever been to. We frequent this restaurant about twice a month, however, in the summer we try to go a little more often. Sit down by the window (although I would recommend this only in the summer because in the winter it can be breezy). The onion strings are fantastic! Followed by the Bistro Salad. There is a wide variety of choices on the menu and even if you're not a seafood lover (like myself), it is still a must-see if you're in the Boston area.
I love this place so much that my husband proposed to me right after dinner at Red Rock Bistro because it is by FAR my favorite restaurant. Great views, wonderful service, and beautiful ambiance gives this restaurant all 5 of my stars.

Since I moved to Somerville a few years ago, I was amazed at the lack of a bookstore in the area! I was so relieved that we finally got one and it's in a perfect spot. I often stop by for a quick browse when I'm doing my shopping at the supermarket. The staff is very friendly and always accomodating. Just today one of my co-workers visited Porter Square Books for our latest bookclub book. They had ordered a few copies for her because they were out of the book that we are reading.
I really hope that they can continue on this track of success. I feel like the opening of the cafe within the bookstore will help out business as well. I would love to see more bookmarks there (I was looking and couldn't find any) but overall, I think that this is a great addition to the area.
