Joe T. Garcia's on the northside of Ft. Worth has been around since the 1930's and his still operated by the family who started. Native Ft. Worth-ians either love it or hate it. Some people refuse to eat there; others insist on the office holiday party being there every year.
The place has expanded and expanded so that it has a beautiful patio and pool area, outside covered party rooms, fountains and gardens as well as the main restuarant. Simply gorgeous to look at in the Spring.
At Joe T.'s, you want to order the regular dinner (which used to be the only option). Your plate is filled with enchiladas served right of the pan. Communal plates of rice and beans, puffy taccos and those famous flat tortilla nachos are served family style.
You might want a margarita, but just drink one. They taste like candy but have a big punch.
Joe T.'s is the perfect place to soak in the Ft.Worth atmosphere and be a little part of one the city's most historic attractions.

The Starbucks in Weatherford is new and popular. It is one of the smaller stores, but has a drive in and plenty of tables.
The location is problematic because of the heavy traffic on Main Street which makes it difficult to get in and out at times. Parking in front is limited and tight when there are lots of big trucks.
TheWeatherford Starbucks is well stocked with all of Starbucks' great products and seasonal items.
The baristas are very good and glad to accomodate specific requests.
Cash, check or credit card when purchasing products. Checks not accepted for gift card purchases.

This place is a favorite for birthday parties. You get 2 games of bowling, $10 worth of tokens for the games, a party room with balloons and some other items.
Everything is well organized and runs smoothly, Cost for 6 kids is going to be at least $100.
Kids love the arcade games because you build up points that are loaded onto your game card. With the points, you can "buy" items at the store, much like Chuck--E-Cheese. Kids love it!

This family owned and operated optical store also doubles as a tanning salon. It may be a little quirky to have an optician sharing space with shelves of tanning oils, but it is my number one choice for eyeglasses in my family.
Ben Combs and his wife are alway on hand to help you with eyeglass choices. And once you purchase your glasses there, you'll always be able to get a quick adjustment or help in an eyeglass emergency. They are the kindest couple and treat you like family.
The store is very plain and alot of people would turn and walk right out. But stop and look around - the frames are cheaper than WalMart! They have a great selection of kid's frames and designer eyeglasses. There is absolutely no pressure to upgrade to special lenses, etc. And Ben actually knows what he is doing.
Amazingly, you'll typically get your glasses the next day. There is no optomerist on site, so you'll need to bring in your prescription. Contact lenses are available and stocked as well.
I love Ben Combs optical for the personal service, laid back feel, great prices and good selection of frames. The added bonus is Ben - if you want to get the scoop on what's going in Weatherford, spend a hour or two with him picking out glasses.

Type of food: Southern comfort food served up diner style - meatloaf, liver and onions, pork chops, Mexican plate, etc. Great breakfasts and lunches. Best sweet tea in Weatherford.
Atmosphere: Busy diner atmosphere with lots of patrons. Far from fancy. Booths and tables that are a little too close together; you get friendly with your neighbors (if you don't know them already)
Prices: A dinner plate can be as little as $6 and includes a salad, bread and two sides (green beans, mashed potatoes, corn, fried okara, french fries, etc.)
Recommendation: R&K is a great place for the family because everyone can get exactly what they want. Don't forget to get a to-go cup and a refill on your tea before you leave.

The Albertsons in Weatherford is just like any other. However, there is a dearth of cashiers available, so you are practically forced to self-checkout. Both kinds of checkout lines get long if there is a crowd in the store. Plan to wait if you are thereor it is a $1 or $2 double coupon day.
The lead-in's are usually real bargains; the rest of the store is overpriced, especially compared to Super WalMart.
The dairy section and the milk is hidden in the back corner of the store in a small crowded aisle - very difficult to get through with your buggy. Milk products do not stay well-stocked at this store.

Type of food: Mexican with seafood dishes; fresh tortillas; fajitas and big enchilada plate:
Atmosphere: Typical Mexican restaurant. Has tortilla machine for the kids to watch as well as free ice cream machine. Calm and quiet usually but can get loud on the weekend.
Prices: Around $10. More if you order a specialty seafood dish; a little less for tacos or a tostada.
Recommendation: THE place for Mexican food in Weatherford. The Ft. Worth "branch" is always highly rated and this one has the same menu.

Type of food: Hamburger, Hot Dogs, Chicken "nuggets", breakfast burritos. Known for cheese tater-tots, footlong chili dogs and lime slushes.
Atmosphere: Drive in off a busy highway; clean and well-taken care of; friendly high school girls wait staff; lots of families and cowboys eating there.
Prices: Everything from a 0.99 cent junior burger to a chicken or steak sandwich for $5. A typical burger runs about $2.50 but there are always BIGI coupons floating around.
Sonic has a 2 for 1 hamburger night on Tuesdays starting after 5 p.m. You can get 6 burgers (they way you want them) for under $10.
Recommendation: Great for kids, families and moms who don't want to cook dinner that night. Could get expensive is you order alot of sides and drinks.

Type of food: Pizza buffet with salad, some pasta items and desserts.
Atmosphere: Casual and loud; lots of children; televisions on in the front and back. Lots of staff hurrying around.
Prices: $3.99 for the adult buffet. Under 10 is $2.99. Soft drinks and tea available.
Recommendation: My 10 and 12 year old sons love Cici's. They can get any kind of pizza they want and they can get it themselves. There are always alot of other children, toddlers and babies in there so they don't feel out of place or like they are going to get in trouble for being too loud.
Cici's is crowded most of the time; however, the line is usually short to pay and get your plate and I've always found an empty table.
