The Rio is a popular spot for yuppies and their spawn to spend their easily-earned dollars on manufactured Hollywood tripe. However, despite my cynicism, I must admit that if you can somehow ignore the construction across from the once trendy California Pizza Kitchen, it is a rather nice place to watch a movie. The chairs are comfortable, the parking is abundant, the prices are about average, and the movie selection actually surprises once in a while with a film worth seeing on the big screen. It is also quite easy to theater-hop or watch one movie after another without buying additional tickets. The only caveat I have, is that the movies play on two separate floors, and if you plan on hopping, you need to make sure that both movies are on the same floor as it is impossible to move between floors without passing the dreaded slack jawed teenage ticket tearer who shall promptly toss you out when it is discovered that your ticket stub is for a movie which started over six hours ago.
