I am as guilty as most other Los Angeles area people, in that I fork over four dollars daily from either Starbucks or Coffee Bean. The drinks here are watery, or milky depending whats ordered and certainly not worth the four dollars that it takes to purchase one. The service is fast, yet the drinks are lacking in flavor. Coffee Bean is more a place to see and be seen, interact with friends over coffee, then a place for good drinks. Because after sampling a large portion of the menu here, I've realized that good drinks cannot really be found here.

This restaurant leaves much to be desired. It's decor is cute and reminscent of an italian villa, with fabulous paintings on it's walls, yet the food is quite bad. Simply put, the food is sub-par, and "ok" at best. I tasted some avocado rolls at this restaurant and found the avocado to be hard, the rice undercooked, and needed to drown them in soy sauce in order to give them a better taste. I would not recommend this place at all to anyone looking for good sushi.

Insomnia Cafe is fun in that it strives to be a comfortable place to drink coffee, hang out, and accomplish work all from the comfort of one of their couches. It is homey in that it deploys couches as places to sit, has a selection of books for the patrons to read. What I dislike about Insomnia, is that with a name like "Insomnia" one would hope that it would be open far past the hour of 1 am. Unfortunatly, this is not the case. The drinks are not bad, but not great either.

Urth Caffe is a fabulous place to people watch and drink environmentally conscious drinks. The drinks are high on quality and are cleverly named. The atmosphere of this place manages to be quite cozy as well as urban, and hip- which is a difficult fence to straddle. The decor includes warm fireplaces, intimately small tables, books to read, and various homey touches like a candle on each table. I love this place and continue to visit it often.
