Great rib tips but terrible service.

Wednesday, July 05, 2006
Yesterday at Taste of Chicago, I wanted to share a "taste" (small) order of their rib tipos, with my disabled wife, who was in a wheelchair. Robinson is well known for great ribs, and one nice thing about Taste of Chicago is that most vendors have a sample item in a smaller portion from their menu. I ordered the ribs, asking for a carryout tray. The person at the counter said that she couldn't do that. She gave me the ribs in the paper container, without a napkin or a fork. I asked for a fork and she said there weren't any, although I later saw people with rib orders kleaving with knives. I asked for a napkin and she gave me one. There was no way I could share the sample order with my wife, as one napkin wouldn't be enough for one person, let alone two. The rib tips themselves were heavenly and I enjoyed them. What I did not enjoy was being treated rudely by someone who acted as if she didn't want to be there and definitely didn't want to deal with the small order. My wife and I bought $35 worth of tickets and used them primarily on sample orders. Every other booth I went to was happy for the business. I certainly would not m ake any effort to get Robinson's Ribs. There are others with better staff and service whose ribs are just as good.
