Though my wife and I aren't rolling in the money, as I am sure many aren't, we have decided to do most of pet shopping at Mud Bay. Yes, they do end up costing a little more than the Petcos of the world, but you get something at Mud Bay that I haven't received anywhere else. You receive very personalized service. You also receive a guarantee that if you or your pet are not satisfied with your purchase, they will take it back. Though many establishments might claim a similar policy, I can tell you from experience that Mud Bay will deliver on their policy, and happily so. I have never once been treated like anything but royalty at our local Mud Bay and because of that, our cats are treated like royalty too (the options at Mud Bay are usually quite luxurious). If you have an animal and you are looking for a good pet store to offer advice and friendly service, I strongly recommend Mud Bay.

Mae's on Phinney is a great place to enjoy some good greasy breakfast food. They have a standard breakfast menu, but the portions are large and the food is great. Though I must warn, this is a little bit of a greasy spoon. If you are looking for a healthy breakfast, then you are should look elsewhere. Mae's is a no apologies type of restaurant, there is usually a line outside their Phinney Ridge location, whether it's raining or sunny, people are inevitably waiting for a table outside (there isn't much of a waiting area inside), though they do have a nice coffee window for the poor souls who rolled out of bed a little later. Mae's is really a wonderful spot for a throwback breakfast. I have yet to be disappointed.

I went to help a friend buy a computer today. We checked out CompUSA, Circuit City, The Apple Store, and Best Buy. My friend decided that he would purchase a computer from Best Buy because they truly did have the "best buy". However, their service was sub-par. I suppose that is the cost of a lower price. Not only did the original store we went to have sub-par service, but they sent us in a wild goose chase to two other stores, finally ending at the Everett store. This was the worst service I have ever received. Not only did this employee not seem to care about my friend and his experience in that store, but my friend had cash in hand and the employee shrugged him and his questions off. He claimed they did not have the model that we were specifically sent to Everett to pick up, but he just took off with no explanation only to help another customer next to us a little bit later, with not so much as an explanation. We then took it upon ourselves to find a manager, who ended up finding the right computer and then spent the next hour trying to sell us on their service warranty (supposedly this covers accidental damage). Which, by the way, sucks too. I bought it for a camera and when the camera stopped working I was told that I had dropped it and it wasn't covered under their warranty (when I shared this anecdote with the store employees they didn't seem shocked that I was treated in this manner at a different store and was told that I should have made the 30 minute jaunt to their store). I find myself sickened by these large corporations. Whether their warranty is flawed or their training of employees, I have never had a good experience at them.

Now called Maple Leaf Cellars and under new ownership, this place is awesome. They always have a bottle open, host great tastings twice a week (on Thursdays and Saturdays). Jill and Paul are the owners now and have transformed this little shop into a very comfortable shop. They are super knowledgeable about all their wines and can always offer a great opinion. There is enough stock to give you options, but not too much so that you are overwhelmed. They have a small but elite beer selection. What else can you ask for?

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE! Don't even go in to look at their cars. They have the classic car sales set-up. There is the guy that doesn't know much about the cars and just wants you to enjoy the test drive, then he stumbles through an offering process, only to eventually turn you over to "the closer". Who eventually told my wife that she should just stand in their window and smile to make people happy. Needless to say, I will never go to Chuck Olson Chevrolet, ever again.

Stu is your man. I went through a crazy week trying to find a good deal on Subaru Outback. After some truly horrible experiences at Chuck Olsen Chevrolet, I found Auto Connections. Stu gave me his cell number, and made it easy for me to trust him and let me know exactly what his situation was. There was no checking with a sales manager crap. Stu is a car broker, which means that he is a middle man between a dealership and people that hate dealerships. You might think this sounds expensive and lavish, but it is not. Stu is still cheaper than most car dealerships can even offer. I will never buy a car anywhere else, he even has customers in other areas of the state. Where else can you buy a car where they have thank you letters plastered all over their office?

There is no other better Happy Hour. The prices are good, the food is good, and the beer is better. They have Boundary Bay Scotch Ale on tap, a rare find. The bar tender is a good man to talk to. The atmosphere (especially in the summer) is sweet. If you don't like it, then you don't like Greenlake.

I love this sub. If you like spicy food, you will love the Firecracker. Just thinking about dipping that wonderfully crafted sandwich in a barbecue dipping sauce and biting in... my mouth waters.
