The Dulaney Swim club has one very large T-shaped pool and a baby pool that was completely rebuilt and enlarged a few years ago. The facilities are very clean and safe and rules are strictly enforced. They limit membership so busy times are not terribly overcrowded and late afternoons and evenings are wonderfully peaceful and quiet.
They have pit beef parties every now and then that are really great, plus teen night, middle school night and I think elementary school night with special stuff for kids. The snack bar is great--good food, good prices, friendly family service.
There's also a playground for the kiddies, and a basketball court for older kids. They have picnic tables and grills, making it a great place for big parties.

I used to go to Pier 1 a lot but I think I've just grown out of it over the years. If you like the world decor look and don't mind having stuff that looks like you got it from world travels but you really didn't, Pier 1 is for you. I find it a little too overpriced for what it is and I like genuinely vintage stuff better anyway, or at least stuff that has some personal meaning for me.
This store isn't all that different from other Pier 1 stores but it IS near some other great shopping and I often stop in to check out the sale items on my way to Trader Joe's or Barnes & Noble on the same strip.

Trader Joe's started out as a California chain and thank goodness they saw the wisdom in expanding. They offer all kinds of unsual and gourmet foods at regular food prices, sometimes lower. PLUS they have samples out all the time and you should always try these because it'll open your eyes to things you wouldn't have bought before (at least it works that way with me).
They don't have a huge produce department but they make up for that in other ways, like the big selection of ready made deli salads and things in the fridge section---great place to pick up lunch.
Their checkout is very efficient and the employees all wear Hawaiian shirts and are very helpful and friendly. Just a great place to buy food, period.

I love Whole Foods and wish they would open one closer to where I llive because this one isn't exactly convenient to the northern burbs! But I go when I can for the freshest, highest quality produce (much of which is organic), the readymade pasta sauces, the cheese, the breads, the whole grain products and other goodies in jars and cans! It just all looks so good! They often have free samples out of several different things and I invariably end up buying at least one just because it tastes so good. Great marketing ploy!
The checkout is quick even when the place is crowded, which it usually is. Parking is tight and there is a lot of moving traffic in the lot.

Noodles & Company is a welcome place for a reasonably healthy meal. All of their dishes have some sort of pasta or noodle, some Asian, some Italian, and some American like the Wisconsin mac & cheese and the chicken noodle soup.
You can get extra chicken or shrimp on any dish you want, which I usually do to offset the carbs a bit. I like their Italian dishes best; the Asian ones kind of all have an overly sharp spiciness.
You order up front, then take a number back to your table and wait for them to bring your dishes to you, which is a nice way to do it. Drinks are self serve so you can sip away while you wait.

A. C. Moore seem to me to be less obnoxious than either JoAnn's or Michael's. I'm not sure why because they do carry pretty much the same stuff but it just seems a little nicer somehow. There's always a flyer in Tuesday's mail with a coupon good for 40% off one item and I think they take competitors' coupons, too. They have cheap matboard in the art department (not archival). I go here mainly when I happen to be at this shopping center for other stuff.
The store is crowded and sometimes untidy. Lots of parking unless you are there on Friday or Saturday evening, then forget it.

I probably wouldn't shop at this TJ Maxx if there weren't other good stores next door to it (Filene's, DSW, Marshall's, etc). But they ARE there and i always stop in TJ Maxx to see what they have and I sometimes end up getting a few things. I have been especially lucky at finding luggage here, they seem to have just what I need at good prices. They also have a lot of that nouveau exotic home decor stuff that a lot of people seem to love. The clothing selection is smaller but you can find some good things. The store is a little on the cluttered side and would be hard to maneuver with a stroller or wheelchair, I think.

This Filene's Basement outlet store is fun to shop at for nicer clothes at discount prices. You should go regularly to get an idea of what they stock since it changes a lot, plus that way you get first crack at new stuff when it comes in. Their wedding gown sale every years is good for huge discounts on high end gowns, though many are samples that will need cleaning and minor mending.
The store is crowded with displays and it can be hard to find your shopping companions when you're ready to check out so be sure to have your cell phone with you.
LOTS of parking. Other good discount shopping in this strip mall, so make a day of it.

This Superfresh is only a few years old and still has that bright, new look. They are open 24 hours a day, a feature we don't use often but it comes in handy when returning from an evening out or on the way home from the airport late and you need to get a few things.
They have very fresh produce and a pretty good deli department though I would skip a lot of the prepared salads. Their hot food bar tends to be greasy and I do not recommend the hot Chinese food at all.
One of my favorite things is that they will steam seafood or fish for you while you wait, so you can get that started and then go shop for the rest of your dinner--then pick up the fish and go home to a hot dinner with no waiting.
The parking lot is big but it does get full at the busiest times and the store can get pretty congested even with the wide aisles. I like the self checkout lanes except when I get behind someone who isn't familiar with them at all.
The employees are friendly and helpful and will go out of their way to help you find things. Prices are not always the lowest but the selection and convenience are worth it.

I like to stop by this Salvation Army every now and then to hunt for treasure but the prices are not exactly bargain basement. I recently saw a nice little patio table and two chairs displayed outside---I expected the price to be maybe $40-50 but it was $170! That is more what I'd expect to see in a consignment shop. Someone probably snapped the set up, though. The store is kind of crowded with racks of clothing and furniture in tight rows. Fun to look but do go often so you can snap up bargains before the competition sees them.
