My kids love Build a Bear. It's a bit expensive, but very nice for a special day. They have a nice assortment of animals to choose from and a good variety of clothes. The concept is simple, but they really put their heart into it and the kids can tell. This makes a really special thing to do for a kid not only for birthdays, but also for times when kids are needing some special treatment, like when there's a death in the family or a new baby is getting a lot of attention.
