El Chico is one of my two most frequented Mexican food restaurants. I only recommend the one in Norman mall, though, not the one in the city on the south side. Food is good and they have good chips and salsa. They serve free cheese sauce along with the chips and salsa as well as corn and flour tortillas. They have a great lunch menu and get you in and out quickly so you can get back to work. Fajitas are very good. Service is typically excellent. They offer a variety of specialty drinks and many variations of margaritas.

I have to say that I am not a fan of On the Border. The chips are bland and the salsa is average. When I eat at a Mexican food restaurant, I expect good chips. I would rather eat a bag of Tostitos. However, I must say the queso is good. Food is okay, but more expensive than El Chico, which is much better. Margaritas are good, but I wouldn’t go just for that. I must say that I am not happy when my co-workers suggest it as a lunch destination. There lots of other good places, like Tarahumara. I'd rather go to a local place than a chain. They used to have good happy hour specials, but they've done away with those. Sometimes they have good fajita specials.

Many people love their onion rings, I think they are just okay. They have very good pies for dessert. I mostly go for the burgers. Prices are steep for a burger place. You can expect to pay close to ten bucks for a burger, fries and a drink. Sometimes you can find coupons in the phone book. The location in Norman is an "express", and the location on the south side is bigger and a little nicer, but same good.

I am not very impressed with Marie Calendars. They food is average and costs way too much. Sunday brunch buffet is better than what is on the menu. Service is typically good. The best thing about Marie Calendars is the pies. They are very good and when they have the any pie for $6.95 special, it is even better. Great to take to a family get together if you don’t bake. Overall, the restaurant is not great, but their pies are. They also have other baked goods in the bakery. The best thing about their main menu is the cheesy potato soup.

Chili’s is one of my most frequented restaurants. They have a wide variety of foods. Chips and queso are great, although sometimes the chips are greasy or stale. They offer many specialty drinks. Service is good about ninety percent of the time. They have a light menu for those individuals on a diet. Burgers and chicken crispers are my favorites. They offer steak, it’s okay, but don’t get it expecting a lot. Prices are reasonable for a casual dining establishment. I find myself going there when I can't decide what I want to eat since they have a good variety.

They have a huge bar. Service is good. Typical college student trying to earn a buck. They have a few televisions to watch a game, but it is not a place to go just to watch a sporting event. They have two locations, one on campus corner and one on the west side. Good for lunch, bar at night-time.

I have to say that I am not impressed with Santa Fe Steakhouse. I have been there on a couple of occasions and it was not good either time. They first time I went for lunch and had chicken fried steak. It was just one of those frozen patties that are shipped to the restaurant and fried. The mashed potatoes were sub par as well. You can get the same thing at Grandy’s for a fraction of the cost. The lunch cost me over ten bucks and was not worth it. The next time I had steak and it was tough and dry. Service was adequate on both occasions. Outback is a lot better.

Bison Witches is a bar/restaurant offering soup and sandwiches. They have a big variety of sandwiches on different breads. They have about four kinds of soups and chili that come in a bead bowl. I have tried each one and they are all great, but creamy potato bacon is my favorite. The special is a half of sandwich (which is still pretty big), soup, and a bag of chips or pretzels for about six bucks. All very good especially for the price. It's a great place for lunch, but it's not very big, so expect a wait. It's primarily a bar, so not a place to take the kids on an evening or weekend.

Tarahumara has to be my favorite Mexican restaurant. The tortillas are excellent and always fresh. Chips and salsa are very good as well. Wait staff are always friendly and fast. Meal prices are very reasonable and they have a great lunch menu. They offer a range of drinks from the bar. I have not had one of their margaritas, so I am not sure how good they are. They recently expanded to alleviate the long wait to get in. This is a great local place that has great food and atmosphere.

I enjoy Mr. Goodcents on campus corner for lunch. Their bread is great, very soft and always fresh. They slice their meat and cheese fresh for your sandwich. I like the original sandwich best. They have several meal deals to choose from, and they not only have sandwiches but pasta and soup. Their prices are reasonable, a little more expensive than subway, but worth it for the quality. They are in walking distance to OU, but still easy to get in and out of the parking lot.
