One of my favorite past times is going to barnes and Noble, getting a good book...and then reading it in the attached cafe. Theres just something nice about having a cupp of coffee in a bookstore, it always makes me calmer, and it's always a good time. This Barnes and Noble is just like every other, but aren't they all grande?

White Rabbit is a great bookstore in the Triangle to pick up gay and lesbian themed cards. When you want to purchase a slightly risque card, but don't want to go to some skeezy porn store this is a good place to begin your search. They have a good deal of other gift items (besides cards) as well so you can usually find a good gift, if you're looking for one.

I think over the past few years this venue has gone progressivly down the crapper. Years ago itwas a great place to go see an inexpensive outdorr concert with friend and have a good time. Now it's a money pit, where you have to pay $40 to sit on the lawn and see less of the concert than you could on a DVD. The last concert I went to here was too crowded and the people in front of me talked through the entire thing making it so i couldnt appreciated what i had paid $40 to see. This place is not worth the $$.

I really enjoy Lilly's pizza. I usually try to go here for dinner before I see a movie at the Rialto. The resturant is decorated with lots of old signage that is pretty neat. Besides some great pizza, they also have some excellent lasagna and calzones. Best part hands down are the drinking straws. the straws here are about 3 times the length or your regular straw, it can be funt o try and drink otu of one, or have your friends try to.

I actually have to disagree with Melissa's review of Food Lion. The stores make not be pristine, but they are hardly so dirt that they require a shower after departure. I like to do a good deal of my shopping at Food Lion stores, the food in MUCH less expensive than competitiors. the others stores have a high mark-up on their food because you are paying for the atmosphere they sell it in.
All produce is grown in dirt...rinse it off.

I usually like to go to Woddys over in City Market. their draft beer is $2.50 all the time so you don't have to worry about there being any kind opf special. they have tons of TV's and what not (I'm not sure if you're a sports fan...but if you are then its the place to be). Their food is halfway decent as well (a rareity in this town in my opinion)

When I moved to town everyone was all gung ho about the "fantastic steaks" you could get at the Angus Barn. After eating there a few times, i have to say, I'm really not taht impressed. The steak is good don't get be wornf...but you're eating it in a barn. It's hardly wirth the $50 price tag. they do have a nice wine cellar, whcih is also overpricedm, but has some bottle you can't find other places in the area.

A coworker of mine likes going to Whole Foods for lunch so I stumble in there on occasion. They have TONS of organic food, at organic for prices (read: expensive). The salad bar and hot bar are $5.99lb and usually have some good offerings. I wouldnt do my everyday grocery shopping there, but I also don't care that much about food being organic. For those of you that do... this is your place.

Cup of Joe is the best coffee shop in raleigh in my opinion. the coffee here is made a little different than you will find at your local Starbucks, and they roast their beans themselves locally which says a lot for their quality. This particular location has a huge smoking section which is great for us smokers who want to be able to have a cup of Joe and a cig at the same time. As far as I knwo this is the only coffee shop in the area that still has a smoking section.

I enjoy reading the Independent. you have to remember taht the Independent Weekly is just that, and INDEPENDENT newspaper so its views are typically taht of an independent publication. You can usually pick it up at indie coffee shops in the area, and what not. They usually give you a different view of the state of things in the Raleigh area than the news and observer does. A great read in my opinion.
