Minors is a bit smaller than some of the other centers, but they have an incredible selection and good service. Because they are small and clearly employ people who know plants. you can find goodies there that just wouldn't make it in a big box chain store because they are a bit tender for our spring temps. But Minor's gives them TLC and without them I wouldn't have fallen in love with heliotrope!
They have handy wagons and carts to haul your plants around while you browse the aisles. The protected greenhouse areas shouldn't be missed, though you don't see them from the outside and I didn't realize they had such a vast selection at first. They also do a really good job of keeping everything outside in alphabetical order so it's easy to find exactly what you want, and if you don't see it, they will help you find it by common name or scientific name.

I think they really do "make the magic happen". I always go to the Brown Deer Road location and it is wonderful, helpful staff, HUGE selection of stuff that really does well in our area, and all kinds of planting ideas.. They also have incredible hanging baskets for a lot of color early in the season.
They also have a club card for member savings and specials, and who doesn't like more savings? Their floral and gift department is also extensive, which makes them a year round shopping choice for me. They have a nice selection of bath and spa products in the gift section, the better to unwind with after planting all your new stuff from the garden shop.

If you are really handy and have a good knowledge base about a lot of different appliances and how to take them apart and get them back together again, it would be worth it to check them out.
Our neighbor did find a wonderful deal on a tiller there, though. One of the really big ones for around $200 after the summer season. We just didn't find anything so great there.

When I saw that Peapod had expanded into Milwaukee, I jumped at the chance to try it. My mom has used this service down near Chicago for at least 5 years. It is fabulous.
You go online to www.peapod.com and order your groceries and select a delivery time, and then they deliver them to your front door!
There is a fee, and certain items are more expensive, but it helps me stick to a planned menu since I did my shopping at home with my list and with my whole kitchen available (no more coming home and seeing you already had 2 boxes of corn starch!), so it cuts down on running out to grab one thing and spending more in the long run. The produce is amazing and so fresh. And so not handled by weirdos in the store.
I can also find a great variety of vegetarian or specialty food items as well as pick up toilet paper and Ragu sauce without running to 4 different stores all over town. Love it!

The Penney's outlets are a bargain hunter's secret. I, too, purchased my wedding gown at a JCP outlet store nine years ago. I still go quite often for house stuff, clothing and gift shopping. The quality is what you expect from the Penney's catalog, if it is an imperfect item they are clearly labeled as irregular so you know.
The stores are pretty well organized for outlet stores where things can be a free-for-all.
For furniture, you have to check out the JCP Furniture Outlet on Burleigh, the deals are amazing there! It's no frills and delivery is bribing your friend with a pick-up truck or renting a U-haul, but you can save hundreds of dollars on good furniture that was in the catalog.

I have found tons of great home dec items and accessories here and no one ever believes I found them at Big Lots. And it's not the same stuff everyone has in their house! My favorites are the picture frames, the garden stuff, Christmas decor, and kitchen gadgetry.

Every ad for them encourages me to relax, so I do. By not going there.
When we moved here, we left our busted old college/newlywed furniture behind. We arrived in town with a couple of lawn chairs, a rusty old trunk for a tv stand, and an air mattress to sleep on. With cash in hand (well, handbag) we went to Steinhafels to start with a mattress and a sofa. We walked all over the entire store without so much as a word from any salesperson. We sat on sofas. We popped off our shoes and laid on mattresses. We were still completely ignored. We left with every penny still in our pockets and went to a store that was happy to acknowledge our existence and take our money.

My house has been furnished from American: washer, dryer, fridge, dishwasher, stove, lamps, sofa, loveseat, deep freeze, de-humidifier, window air conditioner, and a mattress. Clearly, the service and the products have been exceptional for us because we keep going back and spending money there.
Because of the volume of sales and deliveries they have, if you need anything special such as an old sofa removed or a bed set up, be sure and request that service when you arrange the delivery time. We didn't have to pay extra, but it had to be pre-arranged at the time we arranged for delivery.

Love this theater! And yes, you do need to get their early for the best sofa selection!

It's comfy and cozy and shows a nice range of movies, including some that might not show up in other places. The popcorn is good, but try the sweet and spicy glazed almonds for a yummy change of pace.
