Last time I went, I was disappointed in the not so fresh salad. Today was different.
Our waiter was very prompt and courteous with us. Food was set before us in a timely manner. The salad was not only fresh but it had a whole lot more on it than I remembered. Shredded cheese, grape tomatoes, thick slices of cucumbers. So I was happy their produce has improved.
Only defect was that my family's French fries could have been a little crisper. Sure they were tasty but kind of limp.
All in all, it was a pleasant experience at lunch. We shall go back again.

Where I come from, there is a little take-out Chinese restaurant with the best food and the best prices. The Golden Duck reminds me so much of that little place. The food is very tasty and the prices are most reasonable. We treated ourselves to their lobster dish and Peking Duck on my hubby's birthday. Wow, was the lobster dish outstanding in flavor. We were a tiny bit disappointed in the Peking Duck though, only because the crispy skin of the duck was not separated from the meat, so that it could be eaten in the little buns with the hoisin sauce and green onions.
Their won ton soup is very good, well...not as good as my Chinese granddads but pretty good.
Good neighborhood place to eat.

The Pagoda is a really peaceful looking place to eat. The place is surrounded by a huge koi pond. Most of the time we are fortunate to watch them at feeding time.

Our family goes there on a few Sundays when we want to treat ourselves. It is quiet and relatively empty early in the morning. The coffee is always very hot and delicious! We go there for the Eggs Benedict. That is very tasty too but I would prefer that they stick to the original recipe of Canadian Bacon and not use one slice of turkey. That would be my only complaint. The waiters/waitress are attentive and friendly.

Zippy's is a place our family goes when we are looking for comfort food. The we like the one on Young Street. The waitress/waiters are friendly and attentive. I think they have really good corned beef hash there. I am also a fan of their wun tun min. My husband loves their chicken teriyaki and our son their loco moco. We have seen the prices rise in recent years and maybe the portion diminish a bit but I guess the cost of living is affecting everyone, even the restaurants. Still a good place to go.

This is a little yarn shop that a friend told me about. It is a very small place but packed with interesting yarn, and other useful tools for knitting and crocheting. The owner seems very friendly and even took the time to help me to learn the purl stitch while I was there. I believe she runs it alone so it can be a little hard to get her undivided attention for help sometimes. The yarn is pricey but when compared to buying it online and paying shipping costs, it's a little better.

Best thing our family did was to find Dr. Chang. Most people don't like going to the dentist but for us, it's almost a pleasant experience. His staff is friendly and he is very friendly, caring, quiet and very knowledgeable. He is up-to-date on all the latest dental techniques, etc.

We really do "Trust the Midas Touch". We usually bring our car there for its yearly inspection but have found this one, to be quite reliable in maintaining our car. We now have our oil changed...
We really do "Trust the Midas Touch". We usually bring our car there for its yearly inspection but have found this one, to be quite reliable in maintaining our car. We now have our oil changed there as well as other little services.
The main guy there is friendly and seems to be quite up front on what the car may or may not need.
As a woman, I feel quite comfortable waiting in their little waiting area for my car.

Times has always been my favorite supermarket on the island. It's not the most economical but their produce was always fresh and with a nice variety.
Recently, the one on Beretania has been going through major renovations and it's harder to find my way around. I've also noticed the prices are a little higher.
I know change is inevitable but I really miss the old Times...but at least their produce is still fresh!
