Our kids love to come here. They think it's for entertainment - they do not realize it's also a learning experience. The locks are a study in engineering and I literally never get tired of watching them rise and fall, and watching the large and small boats go through. Neither do my kids.
The fish runs are also amazing - be sure to visit during salmon run season if you can. Incredible!

This place is in Westlake Center - in the food court and it's pretty good if you're looking for a quick bite. They specialize in grilled subs - like Philly cheese steaks and the like. I had a buffalo chicken sandwich yesterday, which was grilled chicken, grilled onions, provolone cheese and hot sauce, which they put on a toasted bun and then topped with fresh lettuce, tomato and a little ranch dressing. It was good - and something different from the usual suspects in the food court.

If you go on the dinner train, I recommend sitting in the dome car for better views - and it's just fun to have the domed glass ceiling above you.
Unfortunately the food is mediocre and the tickets are expensive. The train itself is a lot of fun, however and I would recommend this especially if you have out of town guests. It's too bad it goes to the Columbia Winery instead of Chateau St Michele - but in the summer time the Columbia Winery has beautiful gardens and the gift shop is great all year round.

The clothing here reminded me of Anthropologie but happily, the prices did not. They carry unique stuffy with a funky bend and the prices were very reasonable. The sales racks still had complete outfit options and they carry a nice variety of accessories as well. The sales people were helpful without being overbearing. (I hate that!) Overall - a good shopping experience.

I love Tulio. It's located in the beautifully restored Vintage Park hotel, which is one of Seattle's best and underrated hotels. The menu is decidedly Tuscan - and more than that, it's really, really good! Do not miss the pancetta wrapped dates stuffed with gorgonzola (on the antipasti menu) - they are to die for. Each time I've been here the food has been out of this world and the service has been fabulous. I really enjoy the cozy and warm atmosphere and decor.

I recently flew Alaska airlines to California on a business trip. I hate flying. Absolutely hate it. I have to say that Alaska makes flying a lot more pleasant than some of it's competitors (*cough* United *cough*). The airplane we flew on was clean and new - the seats were leather and comfortable and I didn't feel quite as squished as I have on other carriers. I think there may be an extra couple of inces of pitch on the newer Alaska airlines fleet. The flight attendants were very pleasant and on the way back we had a funny captain, who made fun of his first officer's landing. (It was a bit bouncy and the captain came on and said, "Folks I'm sorry about that. I hate it when he does that.")
My outbound flight was delayed an hour (late inbound aircraft) and Alaska did a fantasic job of turning the plane around once it arrived. We ended up departing 20 minutes earlier than the estimate.
I have to fly to Dallas next month for business - and I chose Alaska. They had the best times and the best prices.

I don't have an Irish bone in my body - but that doesn't stop me from loving Kells. You can't help but be swept away with the Celtic spirit here, and it helps if you order a Guiness and sing along with the Irish folk tunes, if you're so inclined. If you're feeling peckish, the menu is full of acceptable pub grub, including such things as bangers and mash (yum!) and shephard's pie. The atmosphere is fun and in the summer you can sit outside.

I discovered this restaurant several years ago because it's connected to the Mayflower Park hotel; it's the hotel's restaurant. Usually hotel restaurants simply exsist to serve the hotel guests, but this one is more than that - it's a great, cozy spot to enjoy a really good gourmet meal and I'd bet that more than half of the patrons here are not guests of the hotel. I've always had great food and service here.

WaMu is a great bank. Their new free checking account, is really all that. First of all, it's *truly* free - there are no monthly fees, no fees to talk to a teller, no fees to call the 800 number and no fees to bank online. On top of that, you get free checks for life (cool!) and 3c back on every debit card purchase you make. Those are some pretty nice perks.
I also like all of the charitable work that WaMu does in the community. They recently partnered with Oprah on a Habitat for Humanity project and the list goes on. I hear they're pretty good to their employees to, so that may be why the tellers I've encountered have always been friendly and helpful.

The current building of the downtown branch of the Seattle library is an amazing improvement over its previous building. The old building was dated, small, drafty and let's face it: smelly. The new building is a work of art. It catches your eye from blocks away with it's shiny green glass and interesting angles. Inside is just as intriguing, though I have to agree with David Stephen on the spiral hamster tunnel - it's odd.
