I recently had a trip to the ER and a subsequent stay at Knox Community Hospital due to an appendicitis. I can say that my wait at the ER was ridiculous and I was told later by a nurse that it was due to the fact that both the ER doctors working were new and very slow. I was in the ER(waiting room and then in the actual ER) for 5 hours before I was actually seen by a doctor. Thank God the nurses were wonderful and very apologetic. Then it was another 6 until I was finally up to a room after a cat scan showed that I needed an appendectomy. Once again, the nurses were wonderful, especially in accommodating me with getting me privacy to pump breast milk for my baby. Though the surgeon did a great job and left minimal scars, I was upset that he did not check on me again until over 24 hours after I had my surgery. I was told that they would not know until they cut me open, whether the appendix had burst and I would need to stay in the hospital several more days than if it had not. I was able to surmise that it had not burst due to the fact that they took my off antibiotics not long after the surgery, but it would have been nice to have been told by the doctor. Basically, I feel that medically, I received what I needed, but the doctors did not do their jobs in other ways. I have no complaints about the nurses.
