Today I made my first trek into CVS pharmacy, the huge nationwide chain that has been wiping our friendly local Walgreens out of business. It was much larger and more open than I expected, and quite frankly, it scared me. The shelves are all really low, and there doesn't seem to be much veriety. If I wanted to shop somewhere sterile, I'd go to Target. CVS just makes me appreicate Walgreens and Duane Reed all the more.

Until I was ten or eleven, I could never figure out why egg rolls were always bad when they came from other chinese places. Lo and Behold! This is not a chinese place. This resteraunt has great vietnamise food, and the best of any oriental cuisine, in my opionon. I love anything on the menu- the mock duck is very good (and spicy- yum!), and the egg rolls and Chicken Almonding are family traditions for a good reason.
This place has a lot of bang for your buck. The food is on par with other take-out resteraunts (although you can eat in) but the portions are enoumous and satisfying. There is also a great park right down the street, so you can ask for plastic forks and have a picnick!

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that has noticed the recent changes at Target stores. The one at the Quarry in North East Minneapolis went through a lot of construction (which was Very annoying), and now apparently, it is "new". I found out that they are working to make every single Target in the country look the same. It does seem more organized to me, but a lot less functional. (Toothpaste in the front of the store?)

Walking past, I was intrigued enough by the Hancock Observatory to check it out. I was downright offended by the 10 dollar price tag. Inside, it was nothing special. It took no more than five minutes before boredom struck. The dilema is, on a hazy day, all you see is fog, but when it's sunny, you're blinded!!! this was definately not worth the money, and completely boring!

In Chicago I went to check out the Andy Warhol exhibit "Supernova: deaths, disasters and Movie Stars" at the Chicago Contemporary Museum at art. It was literally amusing, which is what he would want. The images are so disterbing that they erase all thought. In a good way. I much perfered it too the abstract "Make you thing stuff"
If you go, remember, Tuesdays are free and there is an 80 minute movie on the main floor on Andy's life.

Rainbow Foods at the quarry just got remodeled. Honestly, it looks like a cheap, bad imitation of Kowalski's Market. They hired people to bag grocieries- who have no idea what they are doing- and now have half as many registers. There is ALWAYS a line, not just weekends. The once friendly staff are now always bitter. The sales are good- ocasionally.
My advice is you're better off at Cub.

This last week I went up to Interlochen Arts Acadamy in upstate Michigan. I applied for theatre and creative writing, thinking of spending 07-08 there. This school completely threw me a loop. I was SOO anamored I decided to go next year if at all posible, and demote myself to Freshman, so I could stay four years.
Beware: this school is not for the faint of heart. They work you like a dog. But if it's what you want, Its worth it.

The Old Spegehti Factory, frankly, scares me a little. I haven't been there in a while. It throws me off, having everything so cheap. I like to go someplace and get the cheapest thing on the menu, honestly. The food is very good, the portions are huge, and it is very easy to eat too much. This is not a resarent where you need a doggy bag. You'll need two.

Subway has successfully built a reputation as being a healthy "fast food" joint. The food tends to be very good and "Fresh tasting" - with some heathy options available- but don't kid yourself that mayo cheese and white flour are healthy.
Did you know the worst sandwich filling you can get is tuna?

Claires is a store in your friendly local shopping mall, famous for not only horibly tacky jewlery, but shoplifting and a crowd of teenyboppers there to watch the theft festivities. Feel free to go there if you are looking for a gag gift or to impress the in laws. Otherwise, your best bet is to stay far far away.
