I also like Shiro's if I am looking for a smaller, intimate dinner with a date or just a couple friends. It's quiet, the wait staff is very nice and they have a good selection of side dishes and Japanese beverages.
There are many Sushi restaraunts in Seattle, but you don't want to miss this one.

I used to go to Sunset whenever I got the itch to bowl even though I lived in Capital Hill. It's the total kitsch 70's decor with a greasy spoon diner, small dark bar with bowling pin Bud and all the normal accoutrements. The crowd there is pretty mixed, but definitely tend to be on the younger hipster side.
Nonetheless, its a fun place with a great atmosphere. If they didn't build a bowling alley onto the Garage in Cap hill, I would probably still go there.

I am a hardcore fan of Thai Tom's, even with the wait, the cramped quarters and the overall craziness. On the off chance that I am just not in the mood to wait there, I typically go down the street to Thaiger room. They are usually relatively crowded as well, but its not too hard to get a seat and the restaurant is much bigger. The food is definitely good there, just no Thai Tom :)
I don't know if this is true, but I have heard that the person who runs Thaiger room is actually a relative of Tom. Anyone know for sure?

I have only been here for lunch, so I can't say how they are for dinner, but I have been very happy with the prices and quality of food here.
I was first impressed when I got a Chicken Udon there, and I couldn't believe how tender and tasty it was. Then, I got the daily lunch special that has sashimi, chicken, a small salad and comes with either miso, or for a dollar more a great bowl of Udon with a giant shrimp.
Whatever they are doing there is definitely a step above the masses. I am guessing its just using quality ingredients, and that's always a good thing.
I would maybe have given them another star based on food alone, but whereas the service is mostly good and they are very nice, they can be a bit slow at times, and not attentive to refills of beverages, etc.
Either way, I highly suggest this place if you want good japanese food at a reasonable price.

Not the most likely destination to think Mexican (Tia Lou's and Mama's are the 2 I know of in Belltown), but the food was alright. I wouldn't necessarily go there unless I was already in Belltown, but if in the area, it's worth a try. I have heard many people in the past swear by it, but I am not exactly sure why. It would be interesting to get more details on this.
So many people have such different ideas of what good Mexican is anyway. I mean, who knew that tortillas, beans, rice and cheese could be so different at so many places?
update to this review: never got a chance to write this last week, but I am not sure I would return there. I felt sick the rest of the day (I wrote this review right as soon as I got back). Dropping it down another star due to that unpleasant after experience.

The whales, sharks and dolphin shows are highlights, but they have so many interesting things there, its easy to get lost.
Personally, I thought coming to Seattle and being on the Ocean (basically), it would blow away the Shedd, and its not even a shadow as good. This past spring, I was in Sydney and checked out their aquarium, and while better than Seattle, still not as overwhelming as the Shedd. Although, the Sydney Aquarium had an amazing shark exhibit where you would walk "amongst" them in these underwater tubes.
Anyway, if you are a tourist in Chicago, or going, definitely don't miss the Shedd.

I haven't been here in awhile, but growing up in the Chicago area, this was always one of my favorite museums, and even after moving to Seattle and travelling the world, its still one of my favorite museums.
It's SOOO massive and have so many interactive exhibits like walking through a real submarine, a life size heart and all sorts of cool things. Last time I was there they had a cool VR exhibit and from what I have heard, it has been majorly updated since then and I am excited to go next time I have a chance.
Also, I really like the Omnimax theater they have there, and have enjoyed many movies there growing up like the Space Shuttle, Beavers and many other wonderful nature documentaries.
Pretty amazing place.

Most nights I walk by there, its really busy, so I am guessing that a lot of people like it, but then again, there aren't a TON of restaurants right there, although, personally I would go to the Attic or either of the 2 italian restaurants.
On a side note, although I am sure there are others, its the only place I have ever seen Navajo Fry bread on the main menu, so if that's something you like, come check it out.

If you are a runner, you know the importance of having good, supportive shoes. Personally, I don't know much about shoes, so in comes Jock n' Jills.
They have a very friendly and informative staff that will get you into the right shoes. They watch your gait and make you take a walk/run out of the store to make sure you feel 100% comfortable with the shoes. Also, I have never walked out of there without trying on at least 3 or 4 different pairs.
I don't think I have ever bought a pair of shoes over $100 there, and they definitely have no preference over how much you spend, they just want you to have a great shoe and great experience. If more retail stores were like this, it would be much easier to buy quality products.

Bradley is a pretty good academic school, they are mostly well-known in the midwest for their engineering program (Peoria is home to Caterpillar World HQ), but it would be infinitely better if it wasn't in Peoria. Wow, that town is definitely what you would call an "armpit". The "nice" part of town was the east side, and that was just a glorified strip mall suburbia...
Back to Bradley though, it was good because the undergrad program had about 6k people overall, so class sizes were small and the professors were pretty accessible. If you like a small liberal arts private institution, it may be good for you, just make sure you are willing to live in central Illinois (know what you are getting youself into...U of I is only 1 hour east and has a lot more going on)
