Although Mulberry Street on the Lower East Side may be a little difficult to find, the Paul Frank store has a huge flag in front of it, letting you know you're finally there! The store itself is quite small, but it has all the latest in Paul Frank gear - from t-shirts to watches to bags. The staff is friendly, and if you like Paul Frank, you'll find tons of stuff you'll want. But be warned, the store is a little on the expensive side, and you can get Paul Frank gear much cheaper at other places, such as Yellow Rat Bastard in Soho.

NYU students: Get your list of required texts ahead of time, and check out EBAY, half.com, amazon.com, or any of a number of online booksellers instead. There are some textbooks that are special NYU editions that can only be purchased at the bookstore, in which you have no choice but to head there. But, if possible, try other alternatives first, because the NYU bookstore is exorbitantly expensive. Much like all things NYU.

The map on Judy's book shows Yellow Rat Bastard to be somewhere around Midtown, but the Yellow Rat Bastard that I frequent is actually on Broadway, in Soho. The store is definitely unique, with clothing for both men and women with a different sort of style. Things you'll find in the store include lots of Paul Frank, UFO raver pants, camouflage gear, wristbands, books related to counterculture topics, and anything and everything that you will definitely never find at Abercrombie and Fitch. Definitely a cool place. Check it out!

I went to Olive Garden on Times Square for a roommate's birthday last year, and I had a great time! Although the place is overrun with tourists, as anything in Times Square is, the food is good, the prices won't kill you, and the atmosphere is friendly. But, if you live in New York City, then I'm sure you know at least half a dozen other Italian restaurants in the city that aren't half as crowded, yet serve food of equal or superior quality, and likely have even lower prices.

Mamoun's was there to feed me and comfort me throughout my freshman year of college, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. It's a tiny little place in the heart of the Village, on Macdougal Street, but there are often long lines out the door of NYC'ers craving some of that nice and tasty $2 falafel. Mamoun's is open almost, but not quite, 24 hours/day, and you'd be surprised how good falafel tastes at 3 AM after a night out bar-hopping in the village, clubbing downtown, or simply writing a paper for class. Oh Mamouns, how I love you!

I try to have lunch or dinner at Spice every one or two weeks. I can't live without my Spice fix! But let's get one thing straight first. Both Spice, the Thai restaurant, and Cafe Spice, the Indian restaurant, are within inches of each other on University Place. Now we're talking about Spice, the Thai restaurant here. Nice decor, amazing food (especially the Pad Thai!), and the bill won't burn a hole in your pocket luckily. Go around lunch time for the lunch special - about $6-7 bucks for an appetizer, an entree, and a drink. Definitely worth it! The only downside is that everyone else seems to love the place too, and it can definitely get a little on the crowded side and you may have to wait up to half an hour (not typical, but it has happened) for a seat.

Someone already said it, but I'll say it again - Gray's Papaya is an NYC institution! The map says it's located at 2090 Broadway, on the uptown side of the city, but keep your eyes open for other Gray's Papaya locations throughout the city. Open late and a deal that's impossible to beat! After a night out drinking with your friends or just wandering around the city, Gray's Papaya is the place to go for cheap hot dogs and drinks, ready to go in seconds! But watch out for the imitators - I believe there's a Papaya Heaven out there, as well as a Papaya Dog. My advice is stick with Gray's.

Magnolia Bakery, frequented by Mary Kate and Ashley Olson, is a lot smaller than one would expect, given the hype surrounding it. For whatever reason, I always seem to have a hard time finding the place. It's tucked into a little corner on Bleecker Street. But, I will admit, the cupcakes are damn good. If you like cupcakes and sweets, and you've got money in your pocket, why not head to Magnolia's?

You may wonder why anyone would pay upwards of $6 for a bowl of rice pudding. Well, it's the rice pudding dining EXPERIENCE that you get at Rice to Riches, a hidden gem on the Lower East Side. The decor is fabulous, the servers are friendly, the dining bowls and utensils are oh so cute (and you get to keep them!). Oh, and did I mention - the rice pudding is AMAZING. The pudding comes in a variety of flavors, from "Understanding Vanilla" to "Coconut Coma". And, if you can't make it to the Lower East Side for your rice pudding fix, they have a delivery service, which I believe is free for those in the downtown NYC area. Even better, if you don't live anywhere near New York City, you can still have rice pudding delivered to your doorstep from Rice To Riches for a small shipping & handling fee. Enjoy!!!
