8th Street Lab has got some interesting apparel and accessories for those into alternative styles, like punk, raver, or goth. However, the price tags on the items will make you stop in your tracks. It's fun to look around this store, but generally not worth coming out with a hole in your pocket after a purchase. Also, the staff is not very friendly or helpful.

There's nothing that separates Joyce Leslie from Forever 21, LVL X, or any of a number of young women's clothing stores. That being said, the clothes are trendy albeit average, and the prices are very reasonable. The store is best suited for young women, 18-25. This is a good place to find "clubbing" style clothes, but I'd recommend buying the rest of your wardrobe elsewhere. In its favor, the Joyce Leslie on University Place has quite a selection, with 2 floors of apparel, lingerie, and accessories.

Magnolia Bakery, frequented by Mary Kate and Ashley Olson, is a lot smaller than one would expect, given the hype surrounding it. For whatever reason, I always seem to have a hard time finding the place. It's tucked into a little corner on Bleecker Street. But, I will admit, the cupcakes are damn good. If you like cupcakes and sweets, and you've got money in your pocket, why not head to Magnolia's?

Oh come on, you know you love the movie, "American Pie." Although it can get a little corny at times, overall the movie is full of hilarious moments, the actors do a great job, and it leaves you feeling nostalgic for your high school days. You'll recognize many of the actors, because after the great success of American Pie, actors such as Jason Biggs, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, etc. became some of the most desired actors in Hollywood, almost overnight. So take it easy, grab a beer, and watch American Pie. It'll leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside, I promise.

I caught the preview of this movie, "After the Sunset," before it had been officially released. The director was even on hand to answer questions after the film. Pierce Brosnan and Salma Hayek had surprisingly good chemistry on-screen. It was interesting to see Pierce Brosnan play the bad guy in this film, instead of good old James Bond. The movie also had a good balance of action and humor. I wouldn't say there was anything particularly revolutionary about the movie, but I got to see the preview for free and I admit, I had a good time.

Although not one of my favorite movies, 28 Days was an engaging film and I have no complaints. Sandra Bullock accurately portrayed the realities of being an addict. Furthermore, the movie didn't take an overly moralistic and unrealistic stance by claiming that all addicts can be cured, and rehab is the way to do it. In fact, not all of the characters in the movie lived happily ever after. Sandra Bullock's character, too, had her share of struggles in getting and staying clean.

First things first, if you hate Eminem, you're gonna hate the movie no matter what, considering you'll be staring at Eminem's face for approximately two hours. That being said, I saw 8 Mile in theatres and really enjoyed the film. The story is a mix of Hollywood fiction and Marshall Mather's (Eminem's) realities growing up in the Detroit ghettoes. The movie is almost like a musical, with frequent rap interludes and performances by Eminem throughout the film. All in all, it's a pretty inspirational film, and by the end you realize, Eminem may not be an angel but he's not a bad guy either.

But, if possible, try other alternatives first, because the NYU bookstore is exorbitantly expensive. Much like all things NYU.
