SLO Swim is the only place I know of locally that is dedicated totally to swim wear. They have a lot of unique bathing suits. Another great thing is that they have a large assortment of suits, whether you want a revealing bikini or a conservative one-piece. Their prices are pretty decent and usually during the fall or winter, they will have huge sales where you can get a real steal on some of the swimwear. It is definitely the place to go if you don't think you can find what you want at just a regular department store.

This is a cute little shop with a lot of vintage items. It is out in the country between Arroyo Grande and San Luis Obispo. They have a little deli and it is just a quaint place to visit. The thing that I love is that part of it is called Suite Edna and that is where you rent the cute little farm house for the night. It is a bed and breakfast and you can either rent one of the rooms or the whole house. It is decorated really cute and they have a full kitchen and bathroom. It is very homey and you can't help but feel like it is yours when you stay. The cool thing is that they will let you have parties (like birthday parties, rehearsal dinners, etc - not wild parties) there and you can use the whole grounds and gazebo for the price that you would pay for just staying in the house.

Hearst Castle is so beautiful and tourists come from far away to see it, which is really neat since we live so close to it. This "castle" was built by William Randolph Hearst and everything about it is extravagant. There are tons of things that are gold-plated, beautiful swimming pools (indoor and outdoor) and the grounds and gardens are amazing. They offer several different tours because it is much too large to tour the whole thing at once. So, you have to choose which part of the castle you want to see the most. During the summer, they have nighttime tours and it is really pretty and romantic with the soft lighting. If you haven't been, I recommend checking it out. You can buy presale tickets on their website.

This is the perfect craft store and it is so convenient since it is right downtown. They have anything you could need for crafts from fabric to picture frames to beads to anything in between. They also have some really cute decorative items for the home. They are always having good sales. The best time to go to Beverly's is after Christmas - they have awesome sales on Christmas stuff that you can stock up on and save for the following year. The people are really nice here - especially in the fabric department. They also have a wide selection of silk flowers and arrangements. Their floral designer is really good and she will make up any custom arrangement that you want.

There are a lot of other stores that sell home decor, but this is the only one that sells stuff to decorate your home both inside and out. They have really cute decorative items for your garden and things just to dress up the outside of your house. The salespeople are really nice and are a good source to go to for information and opinions on what might look nice for your house. The prices are a little bit high, but that is consistent with downtown SLO. They definitely aren't outrageous on their prices though.

This is such a cute floral shop. It is pretty small, but it is well-stocked with really nice flowers and plants. They are never wilted or brown. The flowers area always hearty looking and really alive. The staff is wonderful and totally go out of their way to help you in any way that they can. It is really convenient too because it is in the Long's shopping center where there are a lot of other shops. So, you can even go by the bakery and get a cake, go to Long's and get a card, go to Country Hearth for a gift and pick up some flowers at the Back Porch.

Tanner's Cove is a nice tanning salon. They have several beds and it always seems very clean and well-lit. It is also cool because they offer the spray tan as well so that you can look like you have a real tan if you have a special occasion or something where you don't have time to get a real tan. They mystic tan (spray-on) is also great if you don't want the risk of skin cancer that you get with traditional tanning. They have prices comparable to the other tanning places around. The only thing that I don't like is that some of the girls in there are a little annoying, but it's not a big deal.

I really like Dr. Karamitsos. I was really impressed with her because she took her time and didn't make me feel rushed. It was good because she did the physical examination and then had me get dressed and come into her office to ask any questions that I had. I really appreciated this because many other gynecologists don't do that and it makes it hard to remember your questions when you are trying to hurry up because you are embarrassed wearing nothing but a paper gown. The only thing that I didn't like was the office staff. They weren't very nice and they were really disorganized. The mixed my chart up with other people with the same last name and one of the times that I went in, they said that they had no record of my appointment. If you can get past the disorganized staff, Dr. Karamitsos is really good. It is a little disappointing that nobody in the office does OB anymore, but she is still a good GYN.

In my opinion, Napa Auto Parts is the best auto parts store in the area. The guy behind the counter is always friendly instead of being rude and abrupt like some of the other places. The prices are just as good if not better than most of the other retailers, but you get better service. Instead of just handing you the part and showing you to the door, they are happy to give you some advice or suggestions with whatever project you are going to be working on.

The realtors at home realty are really nice and friendly people. They really take a lot of time talking to you to find out what you want and need in a realtor. The only thing that I don't like is that the prices that they suggest asking for seem to be a bit high and I was a little apprehensive about trying to sell our house and have it stay on the market too long. It didn't end up keeping our house from selling, but we did not get what we were asking (not that I expected to get that amount). They do a great job of advertising and I really like that they advertise the homes in the Orcutt Pioneer for local residents.
