Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center started off as a wonderful hospital and nursing home. Over the years it has deteriorated. While there are some great staff members there, the majority are not in touch with the patients at all. The patients are treated like babies, and that is when they are treated at all. Patients have been seen sitting in dirty diapers for hours at a time. All in all it probably rates the same as your average nursing home -- which is way below what i would want for a family member.
About a decade ago they built an acute care hospital on their grounds, but there too, the medical care is lacking. Unfortunately many doctors work in both, leaving a lot of place for bad judgment because of conflicting interests.

The name can't say it better. This store sells anything you can think of. They sell a variety of furniture, including cribs, layettes, dressers, changing tables, mommy's rocking chairs. They also sell smaller objects like bibs, pacifiers, onesies, baby socks, all kinds and sizes of strollers. The only thing I haven't seen in their store is baby food. They have also expanded recently to include selling other basic bedroom furniture. They run their entire operation out of a small store front, but they are a quality place.
This is truly the best place to do your baby shopping.
On top of all of the above they even sell a wide variety of adult furniture as well!

They cater to all kinds of photographers, starting at the person or even child who takes very unprofessional pictures, all the way to the most expensive professional photo and video equipment. They take time to help you find exactly what you need. Their stock includes a HUGE variety of cameras. Need a camera -- go to B and H (hey, I think that is the line from their ad *grin*)

Dr. Zenilman is a general surgeon with a specialty in pancreatic issues. He is the chairman of the department of surgery at the state university of new york, otherwise known as "downstate". He is not a terrible doctor, but as a human being I don't feel like he is very trust worthy. When I look for a doctor I am looking for someone who I can trust, so I wouldn't want to go to him. When my cousin needed emergency surgery he was the only one available so we used him, but I pushed very hard to find another surgeon. He isn't great and isn't terrible, but I want a great doctor to operate on people I care about.

Long Island College Hospital is one of the worst I've seen in my travels. It hasn't changed much (in the basic lack of humanity in treating patients) in the last 20 years. The doctors there overall consider themselves a "small family" and treat the patients and residents alike like (*#@. RUN AWAY FROM THEM!!!
Overall, this structure, and it's neighboring parking tower are an embarrassment to Brooklyn, NY. It would serve much better as a day care center than a hospital.

They sell fantastic Bialys, bagels, and more. Some of their merchandise includes spreads that can be used to make a full lunch. Opens early in the morning and closes late at night. Come to the corner of Grand and Essex to enjoy their great bialys etc.

This Glatt Kosher Gourmet Deli (which incidentally also serves Chinese is a legend). It has some of the finest Deli in Brooklyn. It is in middle of a vibrant and safe neighborhood. They even offer delivery. The do take-out, also do eat-in, they do catering and they do parties. I would not recommend the Chinese food there -- but then again - if you want Chinese food then why would you go to a deli? They are recently newly rebuilt after having a fire. In all, I while they are good I would not give them full stars.

China Glatt is one of my favorite restaurants. The call themselves the restaurant with "The Uptown Ambiance Right Around The Corner". In actuality, their food is better than any kosher Chinese food Ive ever tasted in Manhattan, and there ambiance is wonderful, warm, and fancy place, without the stuffiness and stiffness of any other 'high class' Chinese restaurant in Manhattan.
The only place that comes close to their quality is Glatt Happy Family, but while their price is much better, they don't have the ambiance to go along with it. A++

Going into east side glatt, you can see that you can't beat their professional, yet friendly manner. They are just fabulous in everything they know and sell. They can help you with any kind of kosher meat you are interested in. Before travelling anywhere far please go check them out. They are in a superb location sitting in between the Kosher bakery, and the kosher supermarket. All these stores share a few yards of the same block in the ever growing lower east side.

He works with many A+ to AAA companies (none with a lower rating) and will help you from beginning to end. In all, he did NOT end up selling me insurance because there was none that would work for me, but he did spend hours looking in to my particular needs and talking to me about what would work for me. I rate him AAA+
