Joe's Ginger has some of the best siew lung bao (steamed pork dumplings with sauce on the inside) in Chinatown. Also good are the scallion pancakes and the fried sweet buns. For the main entree, I usually get the pan fried noodles because their noodles are different from the thin chow mien of other places. The chicken pan fried noodles are great, but a fair warning, the dish is a little big, so you might want to split it with a friend.

What do you do if you are in the Little Italy vicinity at midnight with nothing to do? Duh! Stop in some of the shops for some dessert, of course! I don't have a favorite dessert place in Little Italy; each one has things that are uniquely good. Sambuca's has some of the best coffee products in that area. Their cappucinos are delicious and their tiramisu is to die for. So stop by if you are in the area, you won't regret it!

I love Big Wong's restaurant; like many of the other "Wong" retaurants in Chinatown, it offers authentic Chinese food at cheap prices. A must try whenever you visit any Wong restaurant are the meat products that they have hanging by the front window. The roast pork and roast pig (yes, there is a difference) are delicious, as are the soy sauce chicken and roast duck. The congees are also pretty good, and my favorite is the tang jai jook, which is the one with the squid and peanuts in it. I usually get the tripe noodle soup, which is my favorite thing to get there. Try some of it, try all of it---Big Wong's is simply delicious.

Zen Palate is a fairly decent vegetarian restaurant, however, it pales in comparison to Red Bamboo. The food is fairly decent; my favorites are the Thai salad, the sweet potato fries, and the basil peanut spring roll things. The entrées aren't really that good, but the best one I've tried yet is the eggplant & bokchoi dish. Try the desserts even if they sound weird; the tofu almond dessert is delicious. And remember, always get soy milk when you have the chance! They also deliver if you aren't up to going to one of their locations.

Starbucks is one of those places that everyone must have tried only because there are so many of them. Nowadays there is one every block and a half, and that's not even counting the ones located in your local Barnes & Noble. There is a reason that Starbucks is so popular though, their fatty, calorie-and-sugar-filled frappucinos are deliciously satisfying. Whether you are having a bad day, or need to stay up cramming for a test, you can always find solace in a cup of Starbucks' best. If you love coffee but don't want to gain a thousand pounds, you should try a soy variation or one of my favorite drinks, the Fat-free, sugar-free, vanilla latte. Now say that five times fast.

Nobu is one of the best Japanese restaurants in New York City. A place that boasts Robert DeNiro as part owner and Iron Chef Morimoto as ex-head chef, this place has to be good. You should really try the broiled black cod with miso; it really is as good as everyone says. The only gripe I have about this place is that you have to make reservations some time in advance because this place is always full of customers. They are accomodating though; once they lost my reservations, but they still let us in. You must try Nobu when you have the money, it's delicious.

Although Cosi is a franchise and you could probably get better sandwiches at many other places in New York City, Cosi has one of the best mango smoothies I have ever tasted. Also, what other sandwich place lets you make your own smores at the table? It's a fun place just to roast marshmellows to stick between your graham crackers and your hershey's bar, because let's face it, as city folk, most of us are allergic to camping.

Jamba Juice smoothies are so good and they fill you up like a meal. Made with real fruit, and no added sugar, these smoothies are good for you (albeit high in calories)! I love that you can add protein and green tea extracts and basically whatever you would like to your drink. The Mango-a-go-go and the Carribean passion are my favorites. The drinks are a little on the pricey side, so it's a good thing they fill you up, because getting a smoothie is kind of like paying for a meal.

I Love Paul Frank, so when i initially stumbled across this store, I was estatic. This is the place to be if you love Julius the monkey, Clancy the giraffe, Ellie the elephant, and Scurvy the cross and bones. This place has all types of Paul Frank gear: t-shirts, bikinis, towels, flip-flops, wallets, and watches. They do have a wide selection, but it's gonna cost you. This place is a little expensive for clothes with cartoon characters on it; you would definately be able to find cheaper Paul Frank gear online or in other stores.

Fresh melted mozzarella, great toppings, great location; Lombardi's Pizza is one of the few places in New York City that uses fresh mozzarella and a coal oven. There are always lines of people outside, waiting to get a little slice of cheese heaven. The clam pie is a must try; although it sounds a little unusual, it is surprisingly good. When you go, make sure you bring more than one other person with you, it's hard to finish a pie between only two people!!
