I cannot make a homecooked meal like what they have here. It's all drenched in butter and then deepfried to deliciousness. I particularly like going to Cracker Barrel when the weather gets cold. The service is fast and friendly. They are exactly the kind of place they advertise to be. Last time I went, I got chicken dumplings and sweet potatoes. It was good, but I did have to add pepper to get it just right.
Another cool thing is that every table has a small peg puzzle game. So that can entertain you until your food arrives.

As far as actual fast-food goes, Sonic is probably on the better end. They offer a good selection of drinks. I like to add diet cherry to rootbeer for a fun, though sugary, treat. The cream pie shakes are also 'to kill for'.
Like all/most fastfood chains, you aren't going to be able to find any low-fat diet fare on the menu. That withstanding, it is a fairly decent menu. They serve breakfast all day, which is a major plus. My favorite thing is a cheese coney dog (basically a chili dog). This falls into the basic, but good, category.

Everything you've heard about Moon's fabulous shakes and malts is true. They are super good and are made from real icecream and real item add ins like mashmallow cream or peanut butter. That said, I found the food wanting at my last experience there. I ordered a tuna melt sandwich. What I got was a greasy fried sandwich with nasty, dry, blackish tinted tuna. I suspect it was canned tuna in OIL. Being more accustomed to clean, white tuna (maybe with a bit of mayo) I was unable to choke down this oily, greasy concoction. I think I would go again, just to be fair, but I will definitely be more cautious about what I order.
Even for greasy diner food, it was just too much.

Spearmint Rhino, while being a sometimes too-loud strip club, also happens to be a fantastic place for lunch. I went there on my 21st birthday and had a delightful time. I got a free birthday drink as well as a drink included with my lunch. The chicken burgers aren't the icky chopped up patties but 100% real breast meat (tinsert bad breast joke here). My husband had the fingersteaks and they were some of the best he'd had. I'd imagine they're coated in the same delicious beer batter as the fries. They aren't part of the lunch special, though, so they cost a few bucks more.
It's a fun place to hang out for a midweek lunch.

Living across town, I don't get to the Boise Co-Op too often. I'm always pleased when I do though. It's like an adventure. It doesn't feel as flourescent and plastic as most grocery stores, in fact, you half expect to see an old couple working together behind the counter. Make no mistake, this cozy store is pretty big and carries a variety of items from organic produce to gourmet cheeses. I'm particularly fond of the bakery which offers a variety of cakes, pies, and cookies each day. My favorite are the tetons (raspberry mouse covered in white chocolate).
They also carry a nice selection of microbrews and classic soda drinks like Moxie for the non-drinkers.
Workers are friendly. You don't get the impression that they hate their job or are nice because they have to be.

Of all Applebee's locations, I have gotten the best service at this one. The waits are about what you'd expect (45 min during peak hrs, and 15 for lunch hours).
The menu offers everything from steak to pasta to burgers to southwestern salads. What attracts me most is their surprisingly large low-fat/"diet" menu. A lot of places with such menus don't carry such a wide selection. Also, they tend to focus more on "low carb" or don't specifically state the nutritional facts on the menu. Applebee's does. They even have a couple dessert options.
I like it best for lunch when there aren't too many noisy children there.

I used to live across the street from here when I lived in San Diego. Being downtown, we got used to some pretty hefty prices when we went out to eat, but Sushi Itto actually was less expensive than most other places. The cheese and banana appetizer was so delicious! Follow it up with a few rolls of sushi and my husband and I still managed to spend <$25 most visits.
Being originally from a landlocked state, Sushi Itto introduced me to a wide variety of delicious delicacies. I miss this place so much. Also, it was never too busy considering its tres chic location.

While the non-sushi Japanese food is superb (beef wrapped in scallops, yum!) the sushi is the best I've had in all of Idaho. It is fresh tasting and unique. While all the traditional favorites are available, I like to kick it up a notch with a fancy specialty item with a southwestern sauce. Even with the wide selection to please all palates, Fujiyama doesn't seem to have an attitude about itself. There is no flash or glam or fancy cocktail drinks. Instead you can get a neat bottle of sake or a bottle of Japanese beer.
Be sure to save room for a deep-fried banana (or deep-fried cheesecake) for dessert though.

Cafe Ole is a unique Mexican Resturant. It isn't overly "gringo" but it still manages to have some different options aside from the usual enchiladas and burritos. It is especially a lot of fun to go there on Wednesdays when they have 2-for-1 margaritas. They even have live entertainment sometimes!
Another great feature is the salsa bar. It has a regular red salsa, a spicy chipotle salsa, and bean dip. You and can refill your chip basket (from the fancy chip warmer) yourself instead of waiting for a waiter!

This store has a unique selection of gifts and products for the home such as felt Buddha piggy banks and cat butt adorned bags. My visit was mainly focused towards the funny and political pins, magnets, and candy boxes. Although, I did find a fairly righteous Oscar Wilde action figure. The sales staff was friendly and involved. This store isn't for everyone, but compared to other shops that sell clever novelty items, it's much better. They also have a fair selection of pin-up themed bathroom items that I'll be sure to go back for.
