If you need a good place to go for a day out, Barnegat Light State Park is one for the books. From my avatar, you can see that I love the lighthouse (Old Barney) and you would too, after going there.
Visitors can climb the 167+/- steps to the top of the lighthouse and see the surrounding shorelines. What a sight!! You can also walk along the 1/4 mile jetty, watching local fishermen cast their lines.
There are also nature trails and many picnic areas available.
