This is actually one of my favorite Italian restaurant that I come to every now and then. The atmosphere is very cozy and warm. When you step in the place it totally feels like you're in Italy. They have a pianist and I think the owner's father actually sings there sometime. It's great. It gets very busy, so do make reservations. The place only opens for dinner and there is often a wait for tables. My favorite dish here is the Spaghetti Vongole. I normally start with a side salad with Gorgonzola cheese and pears. I also love the warm complimentary flat bread they serve with the oil and balsamic vinegar dip! The best! The downside is on a busy night, service can be very slow. You must try their tiramisu it's the best! I think the make it periodically so if you happen to see it on the menu when you're there, order it!

If you're a meat lover, you must visit Ipanema on 1st Avenue. Ipanema is a Brazilian restaurant. They have main dishes or buffet style for lunch and dinner. If you go for the buffet, they have two choices meat, seafood, or meat and seafood. I normally go for the meat option only (it's the best deal). The price is a bit high for a buffet, especially if you don't eat a lot!
The meat option comes with ribs, different flavored steaks, chicken and sausages. The also have a salad bar that comes along with different options.
How it works is, at your table, there will be a stick with the color green on one end and red on the other. If the green side is showing, this tells the server to continue to stop by your table and ask for food, if you're feeling a little full you flip to the red side and the server will stop bringing you food until they see the green side.
Definitely a fun place to eat and you'll leave the place very full! If you're a big eater, it will be worth it!

Kisaku is a cute place with great service on the corner of Keystone, across from Zoka Coffee by Green Lake. The price is just right, not too pricey and not too cheap, a great place for a date. They have this amazing salad with mushroom covered in a miso salad dressing, a must try! They also have fresh salmon sushi rolls and surf clams--my two most favorite items! What's great about this place is I've always been able to walk in on a weeknight and be seated right away! If you're hungry and is ready for a good quick meal, this is the place to go.

If you like watching movies in leather seats, lots of leg room, and free parking, you must visit the Lincoln Square Cinema! This is my favorite place to go now. Not only is it close to home, it has free parking. I normally go to Pacific Place for movies, but lately, I've been frequenting Lincoln Square. I like how tickets to popular movies are hardly sold out. I can count on getting there and finding good seats. It's also very clean and the crowd is older so you don't have a lot of little kids being obnoxious in the theater! The selling point of this place is definitely the big, roomy leather seats and the spacious aisles. You don't have to stand up and put your seat up so people can walk through the aisle. It's great!

I was at this restaurant last week for some hot pot. We had reservations at 7pm for 7 people. My friend arrived there first and as not seated. When I arrived, which was 10 minutes after 7, we were still waiting for our table. Apparently they made a mistake and gave our table to another party and didn't even apologized! We waited and asked them several times that we had reservations. A lady server gave us menus (after waiting for 15 minutes) and asked us if everybody from our party was present. Of course, being honest, we said no, but we have 5 here. The server then said, "your party is not here so you wait." We were like, "we can get seated and order, we already know what we want." She then left us! She didn't even seat. We have waited a total of 20 minutes now and finally a table was free and we were seated. Thank god we had another server. The lady before was very rude and she talked to us as if we were 5 years old! It was one of the worse experience ever!
We sat down, ordered the 11.95/person hotpot buffet with the yin yang soup base (basically one side spicy and the other not). The food came quickly (which was made me feel a little about the restaurant) and we were stuffed. I thought the restaurant had redeemed itself with the food, however, I realized that I ordered a watermelon juice and that never came! Again, I was disappointed with the service. By the end of the meal was when I got attention of another waitress and finally got my juice. It took forever!
All in all, the food is good, but they place is way crowded and the service was horrible. I know there's the saying that it's a Chinese restaurant, not fine dining, you can't expect much. While that may be true, I still didn't appreciate the tone of voice the woman was using when talking to us! There is no excuse for that!
Although the food was good, I'm less inclined to come back because of the sour experience. Experience and good service is everything!

If you live on the East Side, do visit Sea Star for a nice, intimate meal with your friends or significant other. The service is great and the ambiance is warm. I love their raw bar, you must try their raw oysters! My favorite is the kumomoto oysters, they taste a bit sweet and the size is very small. They also have an assortment if sashimi and sushi, great for sushi lovers! Try their seafood tartare! I've always had their seafood dishes, and it's always been very good and fresh. The price ranges from $20-$45 a plate. Prices for lunch are more reasonable $12-$15.

I was there yesterday and every time I'm there, I'm reminded of how beautiful Seattle is on a sunny day! Fish Club is located on the pier, in the Marriott hotel. They do have outdoor sitting, and that's where I was at having lunch with my friends. The service is always good and fast, for the most part. The food is pretty good, they have a daily menu that changes regularly. I had a Po-boy sandwich yesterday (gilled scallops served with veggies on a baguette), it was pretty tasty, and very filling. As for my friend, she had the seared tuna (I think I liked her dish more than mine!). Overall, the price is pretty reasonable, the portions are pretty big, and the service is quick. Highly recommended for lunch!

I was at El Gaucho last night, and I must say, I'm never disappointed with my steak. I've been to places where I order my steak medium rare and it always comes out as medium or well done! Not at El Gaucho. I've always gotten what I ordered for. The service is excellent and the food is great! My favorite dish there is the Ostrich Fillet served with a mushroom balsamic sauce over--so good! The Fillet Mignon is good too and also the Peppercorn Steak. Their salad selection is pretty good and comes in a decent size. Another unique thing about this place is after your meal, each table is provided with a fruit/nuts platter. I've tried to finish the platter every time I'm there, and again, I've always failed. It's a huge platter! The only downside is it's really dark inside, sometimes I have a hard time seeing the steps to walk to the table. It's supposed to create an intimate atmosphere, but I prefer more lighting. Aside from the dimly lit room, everything else is great! Highly recommended!

I love Saltys, they have the best brunch in town. I've tried Calcultta Grill, and many other ones, but Salty's is always my favorite. They have an array of fresh seafood, beef, great selection of desserts, salad bar, pasta, you name it, they have everything. They have a pretty good oyster bar too! The price is $30/person I think. But it's great for out of towners, they get to see the Alki Beach and Salty's has a great view of our famous skyline too. It's very popular on Sundays. If you want to take a big group, I suggest making reservation at least a week ahead if you want a good time. Highly recommended!

Another place in Seattle you might want to check out is 5th Ave. Optical inside City Center, across from Barney's New York in downtown. The owner there actually goes to Europe 3 times a year to stock up on the latest trends. They actually have more frames then Market Optical, and a wide selection of German and Italian brands. I definitely recommend this place!
Market Optical has some pretty cool and stylish frames, but I generally go to Vancouver or Richmond, CA for my frames. They have more European styles that Seattle does not have. The only problem is the drive. If you don't mind the drive, definitely check out Richmond Optical in Parkway Plaza. I bought a couple of frames there, and my insurance reimbursed me for it. I just called Regence Blueshield and they insure out of the country purchases too.
If you want to stay locally, I say check out 5th Ave Optical, they carry Prada, Gucci, police, and all the different high end brands there. The service is great there and the salesperson is experienced and will help you with choosing the right frame for you.
