Last night my fiance and I were craving Thai food so we decided to try out Simply Thai in Tukwila. When we entered, the place was nicely decorated and very clean so that was a plus sign. Then we were seated promptly with our menu and that was good. Now, the bad stuff...by the time we decided what to order, our water has not arrived, this was bout 10 minutes of waiting. Finally the water came and we told our waitress we were ready to order. She told us, "please wait." So we did, patiently, I may add. But after another 10 minutes, I started looking really annoyed and tried to make eye contact with her.
Finally, I caught her eye and she came to take our order. We got the Tom Yum soup with prawns, Phud Prik King (green beans with beef), and the Larb (chicken), with white rice. We asked for 5 stars since most place don't really follow the star ranking and we always get food that aren't as spicy.
The food came quickly and we were famished at this time. I dug into the larb, hoping that the food would compensate for the bad service, but I was disappointed. The food overall was really ok. Everything was a big salty for me. The larb could have used more lime and the green beans were way to salty. As for the soup, it didn't taste like tom yum to me. All in all, this place is cute, but the food is just too salty for my taste, and the service was not good. Would I come back for Thai? Probably not.

Have you ever paid $17 for Singaporean noodle, or $18 for Cashew Chicken? Well, that's the price you should expect for this high end Chinese restaurant in SF. I don't think I've ever paid that much for Chinese food in my whole life! Granted, they did have a nice view and all their waiters were dressed up in green suits, but the food itself was not worth the price. The portions were small and the taste was way too greasy! Our hot and sour soup cost us $8 for two little bowls. I'm used to paying $7 for a big bowl of hot and sour soup that feeds 6 in Seattle. I guess this is what happens when you choose a restaurant where George Bush dined at? My advice for those who are looking for authentic and affordable Chinese food? Don't go to Empress China. The food is just ok.

I was in San Francisco this weekend and we had dinner at ISA (located in the Marina). The ambiance was very warm and the service was great. We were greeted by our server and was seated quickly. Their menu was just enough. I didn't get overwhelmed with all the choices. The portions are decent and we all shared our dishes. We had the Foie Gra (the pieces were big and the taste was very light and flavorful), the seared Scallops (delicious!), sea bass wrapped with potato skin (this was one of the most memorable plate), and the free range chicken with sage. All the dishes came quickly and all tasted very good. We had the crab salad with mango and green apples (very refreshing). For dessert we had the grapefruit granite and the flourless cake. The granite was so refreshing, I could have ate the whole bowl by myself. The cake was awesome! It wasn't too sweet or rich, just perfect.
If you're ever in the SF area, you must visit this place. It's one of the best small plates place I've been to in SF. Just remember to make reservations. The place gets very crowded!

Customer service is apparently not a high priority for CHASE. My fiance has had a Chase credit card since his college years. Recently, he accidentally forgot to make his monthly payment (he was one day late!) and they jacked up his APR from 5.5% to 31%! Can you believe that!? My fiance was so mad, that he called them and to ask them if they can waive the punishment since he's been with them over 7 years and has never made one late payment. In any normal banking company, they would give another chance for their long term customers. That was not the case, they didn't even budge, apologized, or even tried to make us feel better! My fiance was upset and we pretty much lost faith in the company so we payed off the balance and closed the account.
Before this incident, we've had some fraudulent charges and we called in to Chase. They faxed us an affidavit to sign and faxed back to them. We did do that but noticed the charges were never taken off. We've actually faxed them the affidavit three times before they finally got it and it took them 2 and a half months to knock off the charges! They never even said sorry. But we let that slid. But the jacking up the interest rate is just unforgivable!
A month down the line, we received a letter from Chase indicated we have a balance of $70 and a late fee of $15!! Again, we called them and asked them why was there still a balance and why were we charged a late fee. They said that the fee was the remaining of the service charge. We assumed that if we paid the balance off before the month we wouldn't be charged any finance charges. We were never made aware of this when we closed the account! Again, they did not apologize nor did they offer to waive the fee, considering it wasn't our fault. Pissed as heck, we had to just pay, and we actually told them that we didn't want to have them give us any mail, or receive anything from them! This was truly THE WORST experience ever. I can't believe they don't value their long term customers and sustaining a longer business relationship with their customer. This left such a sour taste with us that we swear we would never try anything with Chase again! I've also heard similar bad experiences from my friend. So, apparently, they have a very bad record! If I can give them ZERO stars, I would!

I was at Cutter's having lunch with my fiance yesterday. This was my second time there, but I've noticed that the food quality has decreased from the last time I was there. I had the soup and sandwich combo. I started with the clam chowder, which was a bit watery and salty. I've definitely had better chowder than that! The following dish was the fresh dungeness crab--while I love the fresh crab, I wished they wouldn't put so much mayonnaise on it! I was disgusted with the oozing mayo that I didn't finish the sandwich! I normally finish my food, but I was done after a few bites. My fiance had the Tilapia served with onion vinaigrette, which looked good but the taste was just ok. It was a bit oily for me. The upside? Well, our waitress was really good, she joked with us and was always checking on us to make sure that we had enough water and bread! That's great service! As for the view?? Well, you can't complain since we had a window seat, which overlook the water! All in all, it was just an ok lunch with great service and a nice view.

This is one of the best restaurant I've been to in a while. The place impressed me so much that I make an extra effort to write about it and tell everybody! The cuisine is French and it is a bit pricey but the service is exceptional and the food is great! They only have tasting menus, 3 course ($96/person) or 5 course ($135/person). Since we were short on time we went for the 3 course which includes an appetizer, main course, and dessert.
Our server would come to our table to refill our bread every 20 minutes. There were 6 different type of breads to try. My favorite is the raisin and almonds and the buttermilk rolls! I've never had bread like that before! Our server also gave us their complimentary 3-tier appetizer--very good!
For appetizer I had the Scallops and my friend had the Foie Gra, both were very good. The Foie Gra is spreads smoothly and the flavoring is just perfect. The scallops was juicy and has a citrus after taste to it. As for the main course, I had the squab, I think this is the best squab I've had ever! The meat is very tender and the sauce that accompany it is makes it perfect. My friend had the beef course, it was also very good. You can cut the meat with your fork! As for our dessert, we had the rhubarb, grapefruit served with green tea juice, and the glazed bananas, all was just great! All the portions were also very big, which is different then most tasting menu place I've been to. Just when we thought we were done and was feeling very stuffed after dessert, our server came with some freshly baked Madeline! IT WAS SO GOOD! We really stuffed ourselves. I definitely recommend this place to anybody who visits NY.

I was in New York this past weekend vacationing. As usual, I like to find nice restaurants with good food. We made reservations at Cafe Gray because it was mentioned on our guide book as one of the beat place to dine in NY city. When we arrived, the hostess wasn't as friendly, however, our waiter was terrific! He was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu and was very friendly! Their menu has a big selection of dishes. They have an open kitchen where you can see the chef cook, great lay out!
My first course was the lobster salad and my main course was a coconut red snapper dish. I loved both of my dishes! The salad was not drenched in dressing and the lobster was a nice touch, very refreshing. The presentation was absolutely beautiful! The fish was baked with coconut crumbs on top of it and it was just delish! For dessert, I had the Apricot Tiramisu and that was great. I love how they put a lot of rum in it. All in all, this was one of the best dining experience in NY.
If you're visiting NY, you must visit this place. The only downside is you have to make reservations and they want you to leave at a certain time. We had reservations at 5:30 and we had to be done by 8:00 (could be a New York thing, we were told the same when trying to make reservations for Nobu). We felt like we were being rushed, but we had a musical to catch at 8pm anyhow, so the reservation time was great!

There are several places, but I like Duke's on Alki. They actually have two floors. I like dining on the top balcony, you get a nice view and it's more private for conversating. The food is pretty good and the out door seating overlooking Alki Beach is great! Definitely one of the nicest place to dine. You must try their chowders and their season green salad, these are my two favorite dishes to eat there! The only problem is, on a sunny day, parking and traffic can be a pain in the you know what!

I love Pike Place, they have all the fresh seasonal flowers and fruits here! I love the crowdedness of the place and the market feel of it. You can't complain when a bouquet of fresh flowers will only cost you $5-$10 only! You can't beat that! The fruits are a bit pricey compared to your normal grocery store, but it's so fresh and tasty! Very well worth it. Oh, don't forget to visit the seafood section, they have the freshest fish of every season. The only thing is freshness can be pricey, but if you don't mind spending the extra money and the pain of looking for parking, you should definitely get your groceries here.
Since I work in downtown, it's easy for me to go to the market to pick up some produce on my way home! My absolutely favorite place in the Summer!

I got the French Toast this morning, and this is the only place that does it best! The bread is fluffy and the syrup is not too sweet, served with a side of fresh fruits! Just great! The wait staff there are always nice, they always refilled my water and even on a busy Sunday (especially since it was mother's day weekend), they managed to get us the food quickly and gave us great service.
