I took my car to this EZ Lube to get an oil change. Easy enough you would think? Take the oil out, put new oil in, put a sticker on the window and off you go. Well, not so fast. The morning after I got my oil changed at EZ Lube, I started up my car in the garage and the entire garage filled with exhaust. After taking it in to the dealer to see what the problem could be, they showed me the oil dipstick and it showed that my car was way overfilled with oil...in fact, it had TWICE as much oil in it than it was supposed to which could have caused damage to my engine if I had not taken swift action like I did. So, the dealer had to drain the oil out of the car and put in the correct amount. I went back to EZ Lube to complain and get my money back. They told me that when working on my car, one technician put oil in the car, left the cap off and the hood up and left the area, and another technician didn't think they had added oil yet and poured another round of oil in. Brilliant huh? I was very disappointed that they would not give me my money back, just credit for another oil change...know anyone who wants a free credit for an oil change? I wouldn't let these people touch my car, even if they paid me because I know it would end up costing me more in the long run. And, to top it off, (no pun intended) every person that goes in there for an oil change seems to come out of there spending on average $100-$150 in services that they have been upsold. I'd recommend you be afraid of this place...very afraid.

I recently discovered The Studio Salon hidden in the midst of Anaheim Hills in a quiet shopping center. The salon is very trendy and upscale without being stuck up and uncomfortable. From what I can tell, all the stylists are top rate, however their prices vary from stylist to stylist. I go to one of the least expensive of the crew and she gives me the best haircuts I've had in years. So, I'm happy. The reception staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. It's not too hard to get in for an appointment. They offer additional services as well, such as waxing and facials. The Studio Salon is located in the Sav-On shopping center on Anaheim Hills Road between Nohl Ranch Road and Santa Ana Canyon. I don't think you'll be disappointed, so give it a try!

This theatre complex has recently undergone a fairly big restoration and is now quite a nice place to see a movie. They have installed theatre seating in most if not all of their theatres and they have also refurbished their lobby. It's never really very crowded which makes for a pleasant movie experience. There are several theatres and they pretty much play the most recent movies. It's the best place around for matinee pricing. If you haven't been there in awhile, give it a try and you might just be surprised at how much it has improved.

Luigi's D'Italia has been part of the Anaheim community for so many years I can't remember when it wasn't here. Take it from this Italian, the food at this restaurant is authentic and delicious! No doubt they have Italian chefs directly the food preparation in their kitchen. Their chicken cacciatore is so delicious, I order it most the time I go there. I've had their lasagna, baked ziti and pizza too and they are equally enjoyable. The menu offers so many choices and such a great variety it takes a long time to decide what to eat! If you are looking for a fancy upscale restaurant though, this is not the place. The decor is really rather cheesy -- to call it casual is an understatement. But people go there for the food and it is always busy. I've even called in orders for pick-up (including a very large pan of lasagna) and they are very accommodating about that as well. I recommend them highly for the food. Luigi's is located on State College Blvd. between Lincoln and Ball Road on the west side of the street.

I remember when they opened the very first Don Jose's restaurant in Orange. It was just a big open room with a lot of tables in it. Have they ever grown. They now call that store in Orange Ricardo's now but it's part of the Don Jose's chain and features the exact same menu. There are a number of Don Jose restaurants all over Orange County and they all offer the same food and great service. Although not really authentic Mexican food, the food at Don Jose's is consistently good. Their lunch specials are priced great and meals are served very promptly so I'd definitely recommend it for a nice lunch during the work week. Prices overall anytime are very affordable. I enjoy their enchiladas, tostada supreme salad, fajita salad and steak fajitas.. All delightful. And, I can't fail to mention their addicting tortilla chips and salsa that they serve upon your arrival. Very good! The staff is always very friendly and efficient. And, you will not leave hungry. If you haven't tried Don Jose's I'd definitely recommend you give it a try.

Capone's restaurant is no longer. I went over there recently and it appears that they have gone out of business. There was no sign that said they had relocated, so I'm assuming they called it quits. It is sad to see them go especially when Anaheim Hills is lacking in having much choice of restaurants. It was an ok restaurant with average food. Could have been better for a neighborhood Italian spot. I hope something else goes into their space that I can report on here at Judy's Book!

With a great diverse menu and excellent service TGI Fridays in Yorba Linda is always a treat. It's got a fun, loud lively atmosphere and a very large bar area. It's fun too because they have a great trivia game that you can play while eating in the restaurant section or sitting at the bar and it's free, just ask your server to bring you the device so you can play! The food at Fridays is consistently good. My favorites are the bruschetta pasta, and all of their salads. The burgers, steaks and ribs are also delightful. Top it off with a brownie obsession and all is well with the world! For people watching their waistline, they have an Atkin's menu as well as many low fat dishes...I've tried them and they are great! This restaurant is tucked away in Savi Ranch and is difficult to find if you don't know the area. In fact, it's hard to get out of Savi Ranch once in, so be patient. Call them for directions before venturing there on your own if you are not from the area! You'll see what I mean!

Friends took me to Patty's Place in Seal Beach this past weekend 3/24//06 and I wasn't sure what to expect. From the name, I thought it might be a casual place, but it was far from that. Patty's Place is a lovely restaurant with a nice, white tablecloths and a great menu. Don't get me wrong, it is not snooty. It's beautiful yet comfortable. People go dressed up as well as dressed casually. And Patty herself stops by your table during your meal to make sure all is well. She's on top of what's going on in her restaurant and it shows. We started with the Tomato salad and shrimp cocktails as our appetizers. They say the tomato salad is for 2, however 4 of us couldn't finish it. It was phenomenal. Several different kinds of tomatoes and feta cheese with a lot of other goodies. Order it! It is one of their most popular items. The shrimp cocktail was the best I've ever had. Served in dishes with ice wells to keep them ice cold, they are HUGE and the cocktail sauce delightful. I ordered the Rib Eye steak for my entrée and it was like no other one I've had. Not fatty, cooked to perfection and very tender. My dining partner had the pepper steak and it was also to die for. Order the twice baked potato as your side dish, you won't be disappointed. Dessert was just as good. We ordered the New York cheesecake which was not your ordinary New York cheesecake--much more moist, melts in your mouth. I usually don't like restaurant cheesecake, but this one was the exception. We also had the chocolate cake which was also wonderful. It may sound like I am Patty's Mom the way I'm raving about this restaurant, but I'm not, I'm Tess who just happens to love this sensational place. I'm so happy to have discovered it. Give it a try. It's worth the drive to Seal Beach!

Every summer we make the drive from Anaheim to Newport Beach several times a week just to get gelato and sorbetto at Gelato Paradiso. It's so hard to find a place that serves good gelato and this shop seems to have found a great recipe. They provide Gelato to many of the finer restaurants in Orange County too. They also have beautiful "bakery" items such as gelato cakes, etc. What a treat that would be for a birthday cake! The gelato is available in over 20 flavors and is hand scooped into cones or cute little plastic cups with tiny spoons. Most people pick 2-3 flavors and have them all put into their cup so that they can enjoy more than one flavor. If you're in the area, or even if you're not, take a trip to Gelato Paradiso in the Corona Del Mar center for a real treat.

When you want to prepare a really special meal or get high quality food items for a special occasion, this is the place to go. Keep in mind that this store is quite pricey, but you can get just about anything you want and it will be top quality. The produce section is just beautiful with produce like you'll never see anywhere else. The meat department is staffed with butchers to help you select items from their case of meats which is absolutely incredible. And, the deli department is awesome. Give the Hungarian salami a try! There's even a deli where you can order sandwiches/salads and eat right there in the store. It's always a treat to go to Bristol Farms, check it out!
