I love MicroCenter. They are easy to get to (if you have a car) right on Memorial Drive in Cambridge. I'm always amazed that the employees there are always able to answer any question that I might have! They also have great prices, and run great sales. I get a huge flyer from them about every month and can usually find what I need for far less than any other retailer (online or in store!). They also have repair services - and even though the labor rate can be high, they really do know what they are doing! And they have a great Mac department too!

I come here on occasion for lunch, since it is near my office. In my opinion, I find the crepes to be quite expensive compared to other crepe places in and around Boston. The quality is good, and the service and atmosphere are nice - but the prices alway seem too high for me. It might have something to do with the fact that they are a chain...but I'm not sure.

For anyone who enjoys crafting, scrapbooking, card making, knitting, crocheting, etc - you must check out Spark Crafts Studio in Davis Square. The location can be a bit tricky to find- but they are diagonally across the bus stop driveway from the back of Brook's parking lot. Inside it is the coolest converted factory/warehouse space. They have a craft boutique where you can buy all sorts of crafting supplies. There are studio rooms all throughout the 2 floor space where you can take a class to learn a new craft, or you can rent out the rooms and have a private party --- bring your own wine and snacks, etc. They have a "Wine and Craft" event each Friday night, and you walk out that night with a cool craft to take home! They send out a great email newsletter with updated events and classes, which is very informative.

I'm not a big fan of "fake bake" tanning - but I was in a few weddings and needed to get rid of some tan lines in order to wear strapless dresses. I was a bit creeped out by several other salons I poked my head into - and then I found Xtreme Tanning in Davis Square. It's SO clean! Everything is sterilized, the staff is really helpful for first-time tanners like me, and I never had to wait for a booth! It can be a bit expensive, but they send out coupons every so often which give you a good deal. If I ever need to tan again, I'll definitely go here.

This place has my favorite french fries - I don't know what they do to make them so good -- I think there is a blend of seasoned salt on them?? But they are REAL potatoes - you can still see some skin on them in places and they acutally tasted like potatoes. They serve great subs here too - and a good chicken finger dinner. I'm not a huge fan of their pizza, though the slices are huge!

Before I got married, I'd never had a manicure in my whole life - but I had one the day before my wedding and now like to treat myself every few months or so. I had walked past Davis Sq. Nails many times when it first opened, so decided to give it a try. They do a great job, nice selection of polish colors (all OPI usually), they are clean and hygenic as far as I can tell. My only complaint is that I sometimes have a very hard time understanding the woman who does my nails b/c her accent is so strong - but we usually manage to understand eachother enough for my nails to get done the way I want!

I am a very happy camper now that a Christmas Tree Shop has finally come to Somerville! The new location at the Assembly Sq. Mall/Plaza is awesome. It's typically a complete zoo on the weekends, but weeknights and weekdays it's great! Christmas Tree Shops tend to have a whole lotta junk mixed in with the few great items that you can get for a steal - so be prepared to sift a bit. Most people walk out with 5x as many things as they "needed"! But they have great deals of kitchen items - all sorts - from garlic presses to cookie sheets, mixing bowls, etc. all for great prices.

amidst the piles and piles of china, glassware, cooking items, etc. you will find some good bargains. Overall, however, I don't find the prices to be great. There are plenty of other stores where you can get the same items for less. (Target, Christmas Tree Shops, KMart, etc) I think they fool you into thinking they are a bargain basement outlet type place, simply b/c things are in piles and dusty. They have one section of china, one of glassware, kitchen/cooking items, paper goods (napkins/plates/party items), baskets, and in the basement there are lots of jars, storage containers, etc.

We all know that there seems to be a Dunkin' Donuts on every corner around here - and we all know that the service and standards at each location can really vary. This location on Highland Ave is definitely the best in the Somerville/Cambridge area. The staff are great, they move quickly, and are so friendly - even if you're not a "regular". They always get your order right, and they serve with a smile. There is even a parking lot across the street! That's rare around these parts. And, this location even serves deli sandwiches too!

I LOVE bacon, egg and cheese bagel sandwiches. They are the best weekend grab-and-go breakfast. If you don't want to wait in line at Soundbites or Renee's, pop over to Magnificent and grab the BEST bagel sandwich around. They fry everything up FRESH to order here. You literally watch them crack the egg on the griddle rigth in front of you. Their bagels are the best around - perfectly cooked. I'm also a fan of the cinnamon raisin bagel with honey/walnut cream cheese. Delish! Their coffee isn't quite up to Dunkin' standards, but their food makes up for it. Don't wait until 20 minutes before closing on the weekends to arrive - you'll find only a few random bagel flavors are left.
