This is by far my favorite mall--I would shop here more often if I were closer. They have a great selection of mid-range stores that I enjoy shopping in (Charlotte Rousse, Forever 21, Express, Nine West, etc.) Its relatively easy to get in and out of .. parking isn't too bad.
It always strikes me as a family oriented mall .. maybe because there are more kids than the downtown malls. Somehow this makes it more comfortable to shop in (there aren't the same ladies dressed to kill that you might see at Northpark, for example).

Northpark is defintiely my favorite mall near downtown--especially with their recent expansion. They have great stores .. a wide range of high end and more affordable options. Its always clean and in good condition. Parking isn't bad--especially with the new parking garage off of Central Expressway. You can usually get in and out relatively quickly. Its definitely my favorite close place to shop.

That is exactly what this is (well, they do have a salad bar too). All the typical stuff. .. fried catfish .. meatloaf. .. chicken friend steak and chicken ... friend okra. ..greens. .. black eyed peas .. cornbread. .. the works. Its a cafeteria downtown, so don't expect too much, but its good for what it is (and for the price). They have decent deserts too. I actually love the fried catfish with tartar sauce, the greens (any of them), and the roasted potatoes.

This little restaurant was known for being "Legal Grounds" coffee shop during the day. It was owned by the same people who do Taste, State and Allen Lounge, and Allen Street Market and Deli in State-Thomas. I just discovered that they did not renew their lease for the spot and aren't currently open, but are supposedly looking for a new spot. The previous location was pretty unique and the food was really lovely, so I'll be interested to see where they end up.

I have so many friends that love this place, but I just don't quite get it. It was a cute place--reminiscent of New Orleans. Pretty good service, friendly people. But I didn't care for the menu selections (very greasy and plain options in my opinion) and I did not care at all for the choices I had. That said, I do know a ton of people who love it and I generally prefer less grease and more vegetables/color in my meals. So maybe I'm not a fair judge!

Ever since I lived in Austin I've been getting sucked into the Iron Cactus' mojo! Its always a cool spot ... great locations, great atmosphere. Everyone always thinks its cool. But the food is almost always sub par--not bad, but just barely ok. I have had some decent fajitas there, but everything else was mediocre. Now, they do have some great drinks and a nice downtown patio. And I can't speak for the 3rd floor tapas bar.
Oh--lunchtime service is also quite slow in my experience.

I've eaten at Cuba Libre two to three times. .. there is nothing wrong with the food--it sis just "ok" .. not better, not worse. But keep in mind that you are paying for the trendiness of it. Of course, that turns some people and turns others on! But I think there is no doubt that that is what you pay for. It IS a nice atmosphere though and, like I said, their food isn't bad. Parking is a bit crazy in that area. Oh--and their frozen mojitos are definitely worth a try! Yum.

I would never have expected to find this place in Uptown/downtown Dallas! But we love it. Of course, we do have one rule: you have to sit outside (which usually means, it needs to be a warm day). They have really solid good seafood. .. basic stuff... fried catfish, boiled shrimp and crab legs .. fresh oysters ... even grilled fish (my husband loves the salmon). Reasonable prices too. Don't be fooled by the small time exterior---its a great place.

We thought this woudl be much "nicer" than it was, but it was entertaining nonetheless. We went in a group and used some sort of coupon (Entertainment Book maybe?). The performances, jousting, competitions, etc. were very entertaining. I have to say that the fans that clearly are regulars struck me as a little odd, but it was all entertaining. The food wasn't great (and you have to eat with your hands), but thats not really what you go for either! Its a fun experience, but I probably wouldn't go back again.

We tasted Go Fish's food at the Taste of Addison in 2005 and were very impressed by their fish tacos. We subsequently ate there are were surprised by how upscale it was! I guess it was the fish tacos that gave us a more casual impression. That said, the location is very nice. The service was great (we had about 45 minutes to eat and they got us in and out just in time) and attentive. The food was lovely and original .. I had the fish burrito (the in-restaurant version of the fish tacos) and an avocado soup. My husband also had a very unique appetizer, although I can't remember what it was right now. I would definitely go back--if I had a reason to be up in Addison.
