Mmm .. chicken kitchen. This place is a symbol of my days at the University of Miami. I'm still a little aghast that it has spread throughout South Florida and become a chain (with much smaller portions and higher prices!), but the original location (what used to be Starr's Kitchen when I first went there) is still great. Boy do i still have cravings! Get the mustard/curry sauce and yellow rice with your Chop Chop. It's great for hangovers too :) Or after a stressful day.

We have been to New orleans twice now (pre-hurricane) and this has always been on of our favorite places to eat. I was very happy to hear that it has now reopened to the public--everyone who visits the city should try it!! We particularly love the po' boy with debris (basically shredded pot roast) and everything on it. I also love the greens and the BREAD PUDDING!! Delicious. You will be stuffed.
Be prepared for long lines if you go during busy times, but its worth the endless wait :)

We had our wedding reception in the older areas of the Belo (the historic mansion and the historic ballrooms) and were very happy with it. The people we dealt with (who were less than fabulous) are no longer there, but the location itself was lovely. In particular our out of town guests were very impressed ... Dallas residents might have been a little less impressed, particularly if they were associated with the Dallas Bar and already had attended many events. Its a very quaint but elegant location and allowed for a very intimate ceremony (in the sunroom with the skylights) and reception (in the ballrooms). We also did the cocktail hour in the historic home.

We have had several projects completed by Southern Painting and have always worked with Todd Goodwin there. I believe that his prices are quite reasonable considering the quality of their work and service, as well as the high quality paint. We have referred a number of friends to them and everyone who has used them has been happy. I would point out that they did a better job when we were constantly in communication with Todd than when we were not. But, anything we were unhappy with was always fixed to our expectations.

I would not recommend Fabio landscaping under any circumstances. I know people that are happy with his landscaping work, but we were underwhelmed with this landscape design and knowledge. We engaged him to create a patio for us and he did, in my opinion, a sub par job. We are very unhappy with the result and, when we attempted to contact him, have to received a response. In addition, his office number is now disconnected. I did not enjoy working with him and would recommend a different choice.

A friend of mine has gone to Matt for ages and has nothing but wonderful things to say about him. I went to him awhile back for a cut and for my very difficult coloring job (I color my blonde hair dark auburn and it does not color easily--only very good colorists can get it right and, even then, usually it takes a few tries the first time!) He did a fantastic job all around. The only reason I did not continue going to him is because you have to schedule your appointments so far in advance and my schedule usually doesn't permit more than a few weeks.

Barbara from gannon Photography did our photography for our wedding and, for a reasonable price, we were thrilled. She was very willing to pay attention to the details that we asked of her and did a fantastic job. She got her job done quickly at the wedding and, most importantly, offered guidance during the progression of the wedding that we greatly needed---our planner disappeared halfway through the night and we were clueless as to how to proceed with things like the cake and the bouquet toss. She was calm and guided us through it all. On top of that, we received wonderful prints from both our wedding and our engagement session.

You pay for it, but boy is it worthwhile. I recommend the smaller arrangements--they have such style that they easily stand on their own. We looked at having Dr. Delphinium do our wedding, but couldn't afford it ... but I have seen many arrangements they have done and have always been impressed. Each one is artistic and unique! Even their standard red rose Valentines Day arrangements were artistically fabulous and interesting.

This would be sun a fun event for a bridesmaids party, etc. ...very girly (although men can go too--I've seen several there!) Find out in advance whether you can take advantage of the complimentary valet---parking by the Crescent isn't a fun task.

The Allen premium outlets are a great thing to have so close. They're approximately 20-30 minutes outside of Dallas, so it is a bit of a trip. My favorite stores include Banana Republic, the Llegs/Hanes outlet, Nine West, Bombay, and the Mikasa and Crate and Barrel outlets. Be sure to look online for the 20% off a single item coupons! Theyre usually printable off of the website, but you sometimes have to physically pick them up at the customer service desk at the outlets. Either way, its worth it.
