The Sonic in Oak Grove isn ot one I recommend. I normally like Sonic restaurants for a fast food meal. The limeades are especially good and refreshing on a hot summer day. Since moving to Oak Grove, my husband and I have tried sonic five times. Every single time, this place has messed up our order in a major way. They've left things out of the bag, given us corn dogs when we ordered chicken sandwiches, put strange flavors in our drinks when we simply ordered a coke and the service is usually slow. We've had to go back and have them correct our order and each time the receipt shows the right order, but the staff didn't do the order right. We have friends who recently mentioned that they wont' eat here anymore because of all of the wrong orders they have received. It's very sad that a chain restaurant like this that usually has good service and the food is good is subjected to very poor management. If you want to stop here and just order a drink, you chances might be good at getting what you want. However, if you try to order a meal, beware and check everything down to what's on your sandwiches before you pull away.

This restaurant is located at a truck stop area right off of I-70. My husband and I heard good things when we first moved to town so we decided to give it a try one evening. The restaurant is clean, but that's about all it has going for it. The food is nothing but salt and didn't appear fresh at all. Now, I know it was at a truck stop so I wasn't expecting gourment, but a lot of these type places have great homestyle cooking. There were a lot of people there, but everything from the bread being dry to the salads being wilted was just not good. The prices are very high and even higher than going to most bar and grilles on the Plaza. The servers weren't friendly which was another shock, they simply tossed the food in front of the patrons and went on about chatting with their friends. It took forever to get our bill and I hated paying those prices when I hardly touched my meal. My husband is not a picky person at all and even he thought this place was bad. This is somewhere we will never eat at again and we recommend that others save their money and hit McDonald's before eating here!

Fritz's railroad restaurant is located inside Crown Center. This place is fun to take children too, but if you are just with a group of adults, I wouldn't bother. You sit at booths located in an area that looks like a railroad car and once you have decided on a menu, you pick up a telephone to place your order. The menu mostly consists of burgers, fries, sodas, it's like an old fashioned hamburger joint basically. A train runs around the entire restaurant up by the ceiling. The kids will love watching the train and trying to guess where it will stop and when it will bring their food. The burgers are decent, the fries aren't that great, the limeades are pretty good. The service is sometimes good and sometimes very poor. There is often a huge line to get in this restaurant, especially during the holiday season. The prices here are a little expensive and you are definitey paying for the atmosphere, not the food. Again, this is a good place to entertain children, but not much more than that.

The Melting Pot is a great addition to the Kansas City Country Club Plaza. This restaurant is a fondue restaurant and the only one of it's kind. Each table has a burner sat in the middle. If you have a larger group you may have two burners on your table which is great because it allows you to enjoy more fondue options. There are many courses available at this place. You often start with a cheese fondue and they have many great options. The Wisconsin trio is my favorite. The fiesta cheese is great too. The cheese comes with veggies, bread and apples to dip in it. Then next is the salad course and they have great salads. The one with the rasberry dressing is great. The meat course isn't my favorite and since it is the most expensive I will usually skip this. However, they have choice cuts of most meats available and they have different flavored oils that you can fondue your meat in and then sauces for dipping. The last course is the best! Chocolate fondue for dessert. This fondue comes with fruit, marshmallows, brownies and cheesecake. There are tons of options, but the Baileys or Cookies and Cream are my favorite. The prices here are more expensive and it's easy for a couple having all course with a drink to spend 100.00. However, if you just want to try a little, hit this place for happy hour on a weeknight in the bar. The cheese and chocolate are 1/2 price and so are the martini's. It's a great meal to have once in awhile.

Zona Rosa is a beautiful outdoor shopping mall arranged in the north part of the Kansas City area. There is so much to see that at first you might think you'll never get through it all. The shops are numerous from a Victoria's Secret, Lane Bryant, Dick's Sporting Goods, Build a Bear workshop and more. The restaurants have almost as many options as the shopping. Some favorites of mine are the Hereford House, Granite City Brewery, Mimi's, Bravo Italian Cucina, Smokehouse BBQ and Abuelo's for Mexican. There is something to meet everyone's tastes at Zona Rosa. This all makes for a great shopping day where the girls can meet up and browse around, window shop, stop for lunch and then shop some more. Before going home, it's great to stop for a drink and good conversation. There is ample parking at Zona Rosa which is nice too and everything is very clean and new. Pick a gorgeous day and head out to relax and have fun!

This is one of the original locations before this chain got several restaurants. The 54th Street grill and bar is a great choice. They have huge menu that offers everything from appetizers to salads, soups, steak, mexican, pasta, dessert and drinks. They have a great happy hour too with cheaper appetizers and drinks. Their margaritas and pina coladas are very good. I love the grilled chicken served with rice. Their sandwiches are all very good. They have a Cabo chicken philly that is so good. Their appetizers are very tasty too and the gringo dip is not to be missed. Great portions and I've never had a bad thing on the menu. The service and atmosphere are both nice too.

GoJos is my favorite Japanese Steak house in Kansas City. It is located right in Westport. You are seated around a huge grill and unless your party is very large, you'll be seated with other people. The entire meal comes in courses. You will have a soup, salad, shrimp appetizer with rice and two sauces an then your entrees. I love the shrimp appetizer with the sauce. Soo good. My favorite combo is the steak and chicken. The chef will grill everything up right in front of you which makes it really fun to watch. the chef will often cook a few shrimp and then toss them to people around the table to catch them in their mouths. The price is great for everything that you get with your meal. The meal ends witha little ice cream.

Still the food wasn't that great. Everything is very cold and doesn't really have much flavor. The salsa and chips are good, but they forgot to bring us any this second time. The first time they forgot two orders so they aren't the most reliable. The staff is very nice, but the prices are quite expensive for the lack of quality and portions. The meals are very small and the veggies look like they've been around for too long. I don't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I love Staud's restaurant for fried chicken. A lot of other people love it too so it's often quite busy. They have wonderful fried chicken and they offer other entree options too, but no one ever orders anything else when i'm with them. The meal is served family style and will come with green beans, mashed potatoes and a salad. The mashed potatoes are sooo good. Everything tastes very homemade and the cinnamon rolls that come with your meal are very good. The prices are very reasonable and the staff are all great. The grounds of the restaurant are very pretty and relaxing and make the wait not that bad. It's well worth every minute!

THe Guacomole Grill is a good option in that are of town. The interior of the restaurant has a mexican flair and it's very large inside. That's nice for taking large groups and they even have a room that can be private if your group is very large. The food is high quality and there are many options. I like the chicken enchiladas very much. The chips and salsa are good too. The margarita's and other specialty drinks vary in quality depending on who the bartender is. There is a part of this restaurant that is made into a dance floor area with a DJ. That can be a fun place to stop and people watch or dance after dinner. It's a fun place!
