The kids start back onthe 23rd, we have to be back on rthe 21st, although I'll be going back the week b4 to reorganize my room bc they laid new tile down this summer so it's a mess. My room is one of those that has the kids dripping sweat, I have a very large room and only a small window a/c. It is routine in my room for the first 2 months of school to have the lights out and work by the sun bc it keeps it cooler. We get out mid May I think. We are required to have a certain amount of teacher contract days above the number of required school days, hence the number of teacher workshop days. Most of our days get used to acutally attend workshops or to complete grades and prepare for parent/teacher conferences. We also build 3 snow days into our calendar, if they are not used they become days off. I teach in a small rural district which is one reason we start earlier and build in snow days, that way we don't have to worry so much in the winter. We actually pushed our start back by about a week this year so that our students can show their animals in the state fair and not miss school.

My son had to go see Dr Zurowski for a mall problem on his hand. She was so kind and thotough, wanting to avoid any unnecessary pain for him. Her staff is knowledgable and helpful. They are also obviously caring. After our visit the nurse called with my son's lab results and to check and see how he was doing. It was comforting to me to have someone follow up that way.

Murry's has great food at reasonable prices and a great atmosphere. If you like Jazz be sure to stop by on a weekend late evening and enjoy dessert and coffee while you listen to some great performances. Their green pepper rings are amazing, something I've tried to duplicate at home but I just can't get it right. A wonderful place for lunch, dinner or just dessert.

I love Barnes and Nobel and this store is a great example of why. It's so easy to get lost in all the shelves looking at books. I lose track of the time every time I go in and am shocked when I look at my watch. The staff is friendly and helpful. The sections are clearly marked and it's always a joy to go through the bargain books.

I have been to Jack's now for three different group occasions. The food offered was acceptable but by no means extraordinary. The ambience is nice again though in no way out of the ordinary. From what I had heard about Jack's being the nicest place to go in Columbia, I was expecting much more than I found on arrival. There are several other restaurants I would pick to go out to eat at before I would take someone to Jack's.

Children's World Learning Center is both a great place to take your child and a great place to work. Children are seperated into rooms by age: up to one year, one year olds, 2s, 3s, 4s, preK, and school-age. The teachers genuinely care about the children in their care. Do not be put off by the fact that many college students work there. Many of those students are education or child care majors and are truly interested in working with children. Each class has a schedule that includes: breakfast, lunch, snack, outside time (in the summer splash time), circle time and center time. Lesson plans are made monthly and set on a weekly themes.

Gian-Tony's On the Hill is an excellent restaurant. Great italian food. Be prepared to wait in line as it seems to be frequently busy. You will be seated very close to others but not so close that you can not still hold a private conversation. The food is wonderful and in great portions. Go and enjoy a wonderful dinner or lunch for a special occasion or just because.

I love Ted Drewes. There frozen custard is so good. Going there though is not just a matter of good ice cream, it is a family tradition for so many in St. Louis, waiting in the lines is nothing for those who truly enoy the entire experience. Making the trip from West County to TD's and listening to the Cardinals on the radio is summer at its very best for me. Since I've moved away Iget it whenever I get back to STL, in the meantime Ihave to make due with the prepacked custard sold at Walgreens and while it's delicious the experience is missing.

If you visit Jefferson City you just have to make a stop off at Central Dairy for some ice cream. The ice cream is made right there so it's as fresh as you can get it. Take a group and order a banana split, they're HUGE, and you can get them made with any kind of ice cream and toppings you want. You can get freshpacked pints and quarts to take home, or take a look in their "damaged" goods freezer and pick up a few half gallons of ice cream with dented corners for a fraction of what you'd pay at the grocery store. Don't wait to visit until summer, go year round and enjoy.

I love taking my cat to Rolling Hills. The vets there are always willing to answer questions, allay fears, and are just plain easy to talk to. The support staff is cheerful and friendly from the time you walk in the door until you leave. What a great place to baord your animal when you have to be out of town, where better than a vet clinic with veterenarians on site. You can bet the care given to your animals there is the best you can get.
