trendy, hip and modern looking thai restaurant located in soho offers reasonably priced eats and colorful cocktails. great for hanging out with friends or celebrating a birthday (which is what we did.) the restaurant's bathroom is also notable. one-way mirror of the door allows you to watch people dining outside - very interesting.

loud and crowded, this East Village Brazilian bistro has a great brunch deal for $10. for brunch, they only take reservations for groups of three or more (i tried to make a reservation for 2). other great things: outdoor seating and sometimes live music and great cocktails. overall, delicious cuisine and lively ambiance. fun place go to.

indian restaurant that is priced higher than your regular indian restaurants. the decor is also nicer and trendier. food was actually subpar. you are better off going to the cheaper indian restaurants. but the restaurant is very spacious. and the second floor area has a separate room that can be used as a private room for parties.

frankly, i am not sure whether to give this place a good review or a bad review. the first few times i went, i was truly impressed with their selection - various choices of sandwiches which were really yummy. but the very last time i went, i ordered the portabello mushroom on pizza bianca. they gave me regular mushrooms on panini bread which was totally different from the descriptions on the menu. when i asked the waitress she told me that she forgot to mention that they did not have portabello mushrooms nor pizza bianca that day. the sandwich sucked and i was angry that the waitress did not even offer to change my order. i have never been back again.

great italian restaurant with very reasonable prices near the theater district serving lots of pasta dishes. the restaurant was recently renovated so it looks even nicer. the space is cozy and not too big. popular place for the pre-theater crowd. but if you are in the area for lunch, they have a great unbeatable deal for 12.95! (three courses).

this brasserie located in midtown west is very modern looking and features an art collection. when you walk in, you walk down a flight of curvy stairway to the dining room area which is really glamorous looking. the food was quite good but i was more impressed with the decor, space, and atmosphere. Worth a try if you happen to be in the area.

Good atmosphere, impeccable service, high prices, comfortable dining, and great food. this downtown restaurant looks like a farm house (more elaborate and decorated) that makes you feel at home. i went for lunch because they have a prix-fixe lunch menu but it is still on the expensive side (not the usual $20 for 3 courses). one very nice thing is that when you leave, they send you home with dessert on the house!

This patisserie located downtown near Wall Street serves awesome sandwiches and desserts. Prices for both were average Manhattan prices. Both were very gourmet. I went after my lunch for coffee and dessert and it was not too crowded at all. Although you order at the counter, waiters will bring out your orders for you.

tasty malaysian food on the west side. you will find spicy and flavorful dishes. the dungeness crab dish was delicious but if that is the only dish you order, you will not be full. the duck dish is another signature dish. space is not too big so if you go during dining rush hour, you might have to wait on the bench outside. prices are slightly higher than most malaysian restaurants (definitely higher than those in Chinatown) but definitely worth at least one visit.
